Very Dissapointed

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
I moved in about 2 years ago because some friends of mine work/ed here. I have to say I'm extremely dissapointed with the apartments and the managing company. They transferred one of my friends to another complex and the other one can't do anything remotely related to customer service because she is not the manager and the new manager is a rediculous and has no concept of customer service and won't listen to any of her staff's suggestions or input. My lease was supposed to end on May 31st but I find out that I am "legally obligated", or at least that's what I was told, to pay 2 more months rent because of some obsurd 60 day notice to vacate clause. Why in the hell do I even have a lease if you're not going to go by the dates of the lease agreement. I told them over 3 months ago that I was moving out and nobody said anything about a 60 day notice to vacate. As far as I'm concerned I gave notice a month ago. I hope that the manager (------) is okay with alienating every tennant and realizes that word of mouth is a very powerful tool. I have heard from many neighbors that she is doing crap like this to them too. One girl I know was trying to renew her lease but wanted an upper floor apartment because she can hear every step her upstairs neighbors make but ------ said No because she has a good sized dog. She then asked ------ about the 5 other dogs who live in upstairs apartments in her building and the surrounding buildings and ------ just said no again. So, she would have renewed her lease but since ------ was not budging then she would just go elsewhere. ------ is not making money for the apartment company she's actually losing it by driving people away. They need to remove ------ and let -----, who know customer service, move into her position. ------ is kinda like the apartment ----. She's two-faced and irrational. I will also be writing a letter to the regional manager, who I also know. If things don't change there will be several people without jobs due to lack of revenue, including my friend, because that's how stupid apartment managing companies work. They just come in and get rid of everyone. I have seen this hapen on 3 occasions including once at a Buckinham Property.
I have had a few problems personally since I've lived here too. I live on the top floor and when it rained my ceiling leaked. They fixed that. Our A/C unit runs very loud. They kinda fixed that but our utility bills are outrageous and I'm pretty sure this is the reason. On average our electric bill is $150.00 per month. That is crazy. That's the kind of bills my parents get for a house. The washer and dryer I'm renting at $40.00 per month are both pieces of crap. I hafta run my clothes through the dryer 3 times to get them dry and the washer sometimes just stops working mid cycle. I have had someone out to look at both of them 3 times. No one has been able to fix either one. So, I just got tired of it and am just dealing with it until I leave.
I also agree with a lot of people. I swear I'm the only person in my area that picks up after my dog, there are a lot of things on the grounds that need maintenance and have needed fixed for over a year and the buildings are constructed with low grade materials. Siding coming off, nails stickin through the ceiling, smoke detoctors installed where the hole is bigger than the fixture, cheap carpeting, roof leaks...I could go on and on. It has just turned into a money trap since I've been there. The rent is rediculous for what you get. There are a good amount of shady people living there, and Knockouts is pothetic and annoying. We call Knockouts, "Fight Club South". Every time I have ever been there, there has been a fight and their parking overflows into our apartments. We are not the additional parking area for Knockouts. That place should be shut down. Sad part is the owners live in Overlook. Ironic, huh' One of the buildings even burnt down due to a tennant's -------- ----------. Seriously, ---!!! Do they even check people out before leasing to them'!!! I can see how people would say they don't feel safe.
As for other folk's problems, I have never had problems parking but this is a relative statement because I live on the 3rd floor and know I have to walk a bunch when I get home, even if I parked at the bottom of the stairs and we have a lot of spots by my building but I can see where in certain buildings that would be horrible. Especially if you are disabled or usually have a lot of stuff to carry. One thing they do well is enforcing the handi-capped parking and folks parked illegally. I've personally seen at least 5 or 6 cars who don't have hadi-capped plates or stickers towed out of hadi-capped spots. Maybe they could add Knockouts parker to their list of towed cars.
I wish I had more nice things to say than bad but that's just not the case. I love -----, want ----- back, and can't stand ------. You better be good and sure you wanna live here before you sign your -------- lease.
p.s. If you do live here, make sure you get a copy of that lease, so you can have the same info as they do when you go in with a dispute, and you will have a dispute. At least this way you can be informed. I think they bank on the fact that many of their tennants don't know their lease and they can pull crap on you and you can't say a word about it. I'm pretty sure ------ is nickel and diming everyone in this place and she does it inconsistently too. Some people can have 5 trash bags on their porch for weeks and I have one trash bag on my deck for 2 days and I get a fine letter. Stupid fines and lease loopholes. These are all just ploys to make more money. I should know. I work in the hospitality industry. Buckingham must really be hurting for money. I will deffinitely not reccomend Buckingham , not just Overlook..all of Buckingham, to anyone. I am pretty influential in the customer service community and can spread the word quickly and you can bet I will tell everyone I know including the BBB and FHA.
