Overall it was a good experience

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I lived at River Ridge for a year before I decided to buy. I choose River Ridge due to the fact that it had private laundry (I would not compromise on private laundry) and a large closet, not to mention that it wasn't too far from work. I was moving in from out of state and could not visit ahead of time. The staff was very accomodating during the application process. After I moved in, the staff was still wonderful. River Ridge has a social about once a month which helped me get to know my neighbors.
I liked the layout, with having a great room for dining and living space, and the kitchen was open into them. The closet in my bedroom was huge! While these are called "luxary" apartments, the materials used aren't too upscale. The carpet was standard apartment grade, the kitchen was vinyl (tiles, not a sheet).
The living room was drafty. In the winter I had to turn up the thermostat incredibly high ($$$) to have the living room comfortable, but then the bedroom became a sauna.
The layout of the roads in the complex has some tight turns that are a bit blind. People speed through them very fast and cross over the center line. I never got in an accident, and don't know of any occuring, but I was always afriad someone would hit me. (one close call I had was when one of the office staff cruised to fast around the corner.
The entire complex, from the lack of playgrounds to the floorplans, do not seem to appeal to families. So it wasn't very common to have kids playing in the street, the fitness center, or the pool. Most of the residents are professionals in their 20's, 30's, or 40's.
The apartments seemed a bit pricey to me, but I looked around and couldn't find other apartments in a similar location with private laundry at a better price. Ultimately, I decided to buy. With the housing market down, I was able to get a place and have my mortgage pmt only $100 more than my rent was.
Overall I would recommend these apartments.
