Damages

I rented at this apartment complex for over a year. My apartment was in perfect condition upon my move-out but 2 1/2 months later I received a bill for over $1200 saying that the carpet had to be replaced, the stove was broke and there was two burns. No pictures were taken,no proof of the damges and I was never notified of the inspection even though I requested one prior to moving out.The $1200.00 came up to the same exact amount that I was told I would receive in free rent through the year.(you figure it out)I would be interested in knowing if this has happened before. There were no damages to my apartment at all,not even a spot on the carpet, but I was told the carpet cleaning/repair company recommended it be replaced instead of being repaired. If there were repairs to be made it would have been cheaper than $1200.00 but they chose to replace the carpet in the entire aprtment(doesn't make sense if there were just spots).I only used the stove twice and nothing was broken at least not when I moved out. What I can say is upon my move-in the apartment was filthy & cat hair was everywhere.Management had someone come back and clean (which I don't think was cleaned in the firt place)but it did no good,I went without air most of the time from May until August and when maintenance did come the acted as if I was to blame(not to mention if it's not 77 degrees they won't come at all). The dog owners let their dogs poop everywhere and management did nothing more than post a flyer, the crap was everywhere and it was so bad you couldn't even enjoy a walk to the dirty pond behind the complex. My experience was horrible upon move-in and definately upon move-out.I cna;t believe a company can charge you for damages but can't provide you with proof you created the dameges(go figure)In my opinion the apartments were overly priced and not geared to families. There were no playground or play area.It was noisy all the time.
