Overall, it's a good deal

I've lived in Scandia for 9 months and just renewed my lease.

I was not happy with the renewal rate, but the staff worked with me to get it down to where I'd like it.

My apartment is more than I've expected.

I've lived in Broad Ripple and apartments in college town, and this is a pretty great place.

I live in a 1 bed/1 bath and it's very spacious.

There's great storage and tons of room for just me.

It's a great deal, especially for the price.

I don't have W/D hookups, but there's a laundry room in each building so that you don't have to lug your dirty clothes everywhere.

And the laundry in the building is cheaper than the local laundry mat.

Any maintenance problem I've had has been fixed the same day.

I've never had any recurring problems.

The leasing staff has always been nice and returned my calls the same day.

The trash situation does suck.

There are only 2 compactors - one on each side.

So you have to either carry your trash all that way or put it on/in your car.

The neighbors are friendly.

My upstairs neighbors were having a party.

They came down to a] see if the noise bothered me (i had no idea they were having a party) and b] ask if i'd like to join.

You can hear an occasional door slam, mainly the main entrance doors.

Those suck since they kinda slam on you.

But other than that, I rarely hear anything and my building is full.

I have not seen or heard of any crime problems [knocks on wood].

Parking can get a bit harry, depending on where you live.

My area is ok - I'm always in the lot directly in front of my building.

But if I come home late, then of course I'll probably have to park a little farther away.

The pool is decent.

There's always people out swimming or just hanging out there.

The volleyball court, tennis court and basketball area always have people.

The work out facility is somewhat of a joke.

I don't think it's temp controlled, so it's pretty sticky in the summer.

And the equipment isn't kept up very well.

Overall, I think it's a great deal at a great price, especially for the convenient location.
