I wouldn't recommend this apartment complex. I've been treated poorly since I moved in by the office staff. My roommate refuses to even talk to them anymore. I just do not feel that they really care at all. They seemed really nice when we came to look at the apartments and when we were moving in. But after that, they were really rude and condescending. I don't care to be treated poorly when I spend almost $10,000/year to live here. Other than that, I personally think the price is just ridiculous. You are paying for location and that s about all. In addition, each lease-term you can expect the price to increase, even though there are many empty units. There are also pest issues in the complex. Raccoons are a serious issue here! Although that isn't anyone's fault, its something to consider. You would think that if you were above the ground-level apartments, this wouldn't affect you, but you are wrong. I ve seen them climbing up all levels of our building, going from patio to patio, in search of food. Although, I have no pets myself, it really bothers the pet-owners. Dogs get really worked up from seeing them right outside on patios, and they also present a great deal of danger if you choose to open up your windows and doors. So, we just don't go out there anymore. Although it may seem like a dumb thing to consider when deciding whether, or not, to rent an apartment, it really has become a problem. If you come to look at the apartment complex, just ask residents you see outside; I'm sure they have all had an encounter or two to tell you about.
The noise is also a problem. The walls/ceilings are really thin, you can literally here what your neighbors are saying and doing. So if you want some peace and quiet, you'll probably need to run a box fan most of the time. Just cross your fingers for quiet neighbors or ask to live on the top floor.

Yes, it is obvious the Scandia office has only one main responsibility ... to rent apartments and specifically NOT to bother with current residents. Even their telephone recorded message is all about new prospective renters, and nothing about the concerns or problems of the 400 units full of residents. Once you've signed their lease feel lucky to get much of anything from the office staff other than a telephone call when the lease is up for renewal.
I have to say that the raccoons are less of a problem this year than they were a few years ago. The NEW problem this year is the five foot long and baby snakes so prevalent now that are living in the siding and under the buildings. It is not safe to let young children out to play alone without close supervision.
