I too thought that Scarborough wasn't so bad the first year I lived here. I had quiet neighbors, although I could smell the smoke from my neighbor next door - through the wall! The maintenance team is excellent, and they have a great 24-hour policy, so you know they'll try to get whatever you need fixed on time. The attitude and customer service abilities of the office staff could improve though.

During my second year here, the quality of my neighbors quickly declined, as the quiet ones moved out and the loud bass-lovers moved in. I've had to make several complaints to the office, although it does no good. Once I called to complain about the tenant who lives down the hall and ACROSS the hall because of their need to constantly play loud bass music, and the office representative had a hard time believing me. She asked if maybe they were just moving furniture around and accidentally hit the wall. I'd like to think I know loud bass music when I hear it - which is all the time now. The noise from the street is also pretty bad. I've lost a lot of sleep. I've been looking around for better, yet still affordable, accomodations in the same area and am not finding anything reasonably priced.

This wouldn't be such a bad place, if it weren't for the habits of my neighbors.

I can feel your pain on this one. If you were lucky it was only cigarette smoke you were forced to endure. Now this never happened in my unit, but I caught a contact buzz from the weed smoke in the halls every time I would visit my buddy. I can agree with the friendliness of the management and staff, for the most part. But I can also agree that they need to expand and improve their skill-set in area of attitude and customer service. It's one thing to be nice and smiley when I come in to pay my rent. But to be unresponsive to legitimate concerns pretty much negates the positives of the smiling.
