As a current resident in my first year of living here I am appauled by the standards of the complex. I am stuck in my lease and will be out of here ASAP at the end. My biggest grip is the neighborhood. I just don't feel safe! If you look through the archives of the Indianapolis Star you will find several stories of crimes originating from the Scarborough Lake complex. My other grips would include.
1) They have a proprietary cable system, you cannot get ComCast here and their cable is horrible. They are trying to be cheap by just splitting a Dish Network Satilite signal hundreds of times and by the time you hook up your TV the picture is horrible.
2) My car as well was towed when I was on a business trip for one week in Seattle. I have two cars, one was at the airport and one in front of my apartment. When I got home, my second car had been towed. I had to pay over $100 to get it from the towing company and Scarborough Lake management refused to pay for this.
3) They turn the Air Conditioning off during the fall/Winter/Spring seasons! If you have a dinner party and cook all day in the spring, you cannot turn on the AC to cool your apartment! Just yesterday they tunred the AC back on for the spring. It has been in the 70's for the past several weeks, but I had to swealter in my apartment!
4) There is geese feces all over the property and if you have a pet and let it go outside, they fine you upwards of $50 bucks!
5)The landscaping is nice, but the pavement sucks! There are pot-holes galore throughout the property. Also, they do not salt the parking lot in the winter, so there is snow and ice that they do not deal with.
6) The appliances are very out-dated, they are only replaced if one fails. Do you remember the days of avolcado green applicanaces'
7) The hot water heater in my 2-bedroom apartment is tiny! You only have enough hat water for about a 5 minute shower! This is caused because of Indianapolis having hard water, per the management and maintenance staff.
8)Also, this complex is located right next to I465 and the road noise is quite loud. I didn't think that it would be too bad, but it is.
9) The square footage of each apartment is something yet to be desired.
Please beware of this complex, spring for a little more and find something nicer yourself.

Wow. Right on the money with all of your points. I also had an issue with their proprietary cable system. Now that broadband internet is offered from cable companies, it seems unfair to not at least let it be an option. I asked about a satelite dish but there were all kinds of restrictions and I would have been required to take out an insurance policy in the event my dish would take flight and damage someone's property. I'm pretty certain that the cost would be prohibitive. I too had an issue with the AC not being on in those "tween" months where it could be warm enough to have the AC on but not yet warm enough to have it on 24/7. Also, I lived on the top floor so I got extra heat from the two unit below me. Everyone has a problem with their geese. I've seen children chased by geese when I as there. Also, there was a field that is part of their property that fills up with water like a pond when it rains hard. Ducks congregate and swim. No joke. But standing water in the summer time is just begging for mosquitos. Appliances are pretty much on par with other mid-range apartments. I had a 30 gallon water heater and I didn't have enough hot water to run a bath. It was always ice-cold by the time it filled the tub. I wasn't by 465, so I didn't have an issue. The square footage was a huge issue. I looked up my apartment specs and the unit I had was approx. 100 sq ft smaller than advertised. And I was actually looking to get a larger one with two bedrooms until I realized that they made space for the extra room by taking away space from the living room. That's right...more money and smaller living room. And the bedrooms were smaller than they were listed on their spec sheet. Trust me...I took a measuring tape with me. And as far as the crime goes...five people died in the first year lived there. And I watched out my balcony window as an angry girlfriend rammed her SUV into her boyfriend's car over and over and over...with him inside. Crazy stuff.

You obviously looked at an apartment before entering into the lease. And you obviously saw the property before you ever even entered an apartment? Maybe the apartments are small. Deal with it. Maybe the appliances are old, but they work. Maybe the cable is split hundreds of times, but you have cable. The ONLY gripe I saw that you may have a right to gripe about is your car being towed. Oh, and about your pet "going" outside, yes you are allowed to let your pet potty outside. You're supposed to clean it up with one of the bags that THEY PROVIDE at the "poop stations", and if you fail to do so, they charge you $25, not $50. So if you're going to write in and put down someone, at least get the facts straight before you do so. If you're wondering how I know all these facts, that would be because I happen to live in an apartment owned by Edward Rose, just as you do. I live in Greenwood.
