I've been living here in a 2 bed/2 bath for the better part of a year. My room mate and I got robbed of our computers and some other things about 3 months into living here. In that time there had been several crimes against property and a hand full of crimes against persons. This seems to be changing. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The intrusion alarm is a nice thing to have, just wish it had been hooked up when we first got here like we thought it would be. Parking is still a little tight at night but is starting to improve, we no longer have people parallel parking in what are clearly not parking spots. The neighbors we had at first were a little rough when we first moved in but they have moved away and we have much gentler people moving in recently. A downstairs neighbor is wheelchair bound and they promptly built a ramp from the parking spot, that they just made handicapped accessible, up to the building. This shows the age of the buildings but also the commitment that the staff has to serving its residents well. Our balcony sometimes seems sketchy, it's starting to get old. Also some of the bathroom fixtures are only secured by some putty-like substance that does not hold too terribly well, I had the soap dish in my bathtub/shower fall off as I was cleaning it, I was not using excessive force. Also the windows are noisy when the wind blows at all. They also don't do a good job protecting from heat or cold, the solution is to hang a blanket in front of it, that pretty much takes care of the cold in winter, still can hear people talking outside in the parking lot though. The area by the dumpster is a little dark, everything else I've seen is well lit. The driers in the laundry rooms don't dry especially well. So aside of some security problems early on this is a pretty good place to live. Again, things seem to be getting better. Would not have recommended until recently, now I would, with caution and a suggestion to check out the IMPD website (for any apartment complex) first.
