My wife and I lived at Spyglass Apartments for 3 years. I'll break down the pros and cons.

Pros: 1) I think the office staff does a great job. They even watered my outdoor plants when I had to make an emergency trip out of state. 2) Price. It's affordable. 3) It's been getting better in general. 4) My neighbors aren't too loud 5) the little lake does make for a nice view if you live on the "lake". 7) It's multi-ethic, which my wife and I really like. 8) The space in the apts. is nice.

Cons: 1) There are many unchaperoned teenagers milling about, so as one reviewer mentioned, they may be playing with fireworks or make noise. From what I gather, this is a common problem with apartment living (come on parents!) Yet, kids do need to play... 2) Some cars have been broken into. Fortunately, not ours yet. (Of course, I had my car broken into more than once in Chicago and I've learned not to leave anything of value visible!) Also, I think the officer that woke me up at 2AM to see if I owned a blue mustang caught the guy who broke into it - so there may be less of that now. 3) We had a water leak dripping into our apartment for over a week (2 years in a row!) This was a MAJOR pain. I suspect it will happen again this year when the AC condensation overflows from the apt. above us this summer.

Bottom line: I wouldn't want my wife to live here if I wasn't with her. But for guys it's fine, and for married couples it's manageable (life is full of risks...). If you need to live on the NW side, it's cheap living - deal with it.

Why did we choose it' Location - if you work at St. Vs you can walk! Price. Size of apartments. So, while I don't really recommend it in general, I would recommend it if you worked very close and didn't like to commute.

Final recommendation: Definitely try to live around the lake. There tends to be less noise from kids playing. (It's funny, our building fire alarm when off after I wrote this review...nobody knows why...)
