Yo!

One of the worst apartments EVER

From day one, this apartment complex has given us problems. There are 18 apartments in our building, but only 25 parking spaces that you do not have to pay for - most of them are two bedrooms in our building, so you do the math. Trying to find a parking space in front of our building after 5 PM is impossible.

Moving into our apartment proved to be the start of everything. I do not have an over-sized couch. It is your basic couch. Because of the weird turn right after the front door, however, I cannot get my couch into our apartment. My couch has been sitting in our garage for over a year now. If you MUST live here, make sure your furniture will fit through the door!!!

We have rented the same garage for over a year, but about two months ago, there was a notice posted on the garage door saying "If you do not remove your belongings from this garage within 24 hours, your items will be disposed of." I took the notice into the office LIVID because that had been our garage for over a year with no problems. One of the maintenence guys was in the office with the staff, and he said that our stuff needed to be moved because they had rented it out. I showed him my lease with the garage number on it, and he said that they had made a mistake. The leasing staff just stood there and said nothing! I don't think they've ever heard of book-keeping in that office. I have come to the conclusion that many of the staff there are idiots.

We had renewed our lease (and taken my old roommate off of the lease), and thought we had signed everything to do so (and the staff led us to believe that), but at the beginning of the month, we found out that we had to sign ANOTHER lease besides the two we had already signed. Since it was the beginning of the month, even if we signed a lease that day, we were going to be charged a month-to-month fee since we had lived there for a day without a lease. So we were charged over $400 more than we were supposed to with month-to-month fees, carport fees, cable fees, and more that were not supposed to be included on our new lease. You can ONLY add things to your lease, such as cable, carpots, etc, but you cannot subtract them. Once these things are on your lease, you must pay for them until your lease term is up, even if you don't need them anymore! Those are two Edward Rose policies. The only saving grace for that issue was that the manager, Elizabeth, talked to her superviser, and they gave us $200 our next month's rent... half of what we over-paid.

The noise here is terrible. There is apparently no insulation between apartments. We can hear EVERYTHING the upstairs neighbors are doing. It sounds like the running of the bulls in Pamplona most of the time up there.

Many cars have gotten broken into since we have lived here. Porch lights go out and the regular night lighting is not up to par. There are at least four instances that I can think of that a car has gotten broken into directly in front of our building. Even the clubhouse was broken into and had their big screen TV stolen... and they have cameras monitoring the club house!

Everything in this apartment seems to have been hastily done. There are bumps all in the linoleum that should not be there, there are dents in the wall that have been there since we moved in, the tile in each room does not match, both showers leak brown sediment through the seams in the wall, ice forms INSIDE the windows during cold days in winter, odd orange stains have appeared on one of the bedroom walls (that I think is mold), whenever the neighbors upstairs flush the toilet the pipes click LOUDLY for about five minutes... you get the idea. I have told the leasing staff about these issues for quite some time, but no one has ever come to fix them. The only maintenence staff that has ever been in our apartment was about 3 AM when the upstairs neighbors flushed the toilet - and the liquid came POURING into our bathroom through the ceiling vent. He told me to put some towels down and he'd be back to fix it. That was two months ago. We are still waiting - but thankfully it hasn't done it again.

Overall, I would not recommend this apartment complex, or probably any other Edward Rose complex to anyone. If you do happen upon this place, back away slowly. Don't make eye contact. It will eat your soul!
