The Management Does Not Care

I moved into the Stratford a few years ago because the studio apartment was the cheapest I found in the area. For a while, things were pretty decent, and soon the buildings were even renovated (on the outside only) with attractive new siding.
Recently, however, the quality has gone far downhill. Living in a studio aparment building, I don't expect luxurious accomodations, but these are poor by any standards.
My biggest complaint is the noise. Downstairs neighbors play their music so loudly it's easily heard in my apartment, day and night (sometimes even before 6:00 AM). I haven't gotten a good night's sleep in a while. I have contacted the management with noise complaints (as I was instructed to do *after* I was mistakenly issued a warning on a complaint meant for someone else). So far, nothing has been done. I know the "courtesy officer" exists, as I saw him once, but I wouldn't be surprised if my complaints were simply ignored, for all the effects they've had.
Besides that, the building is filthy. There are stains everywhere, people leave their garbage in the halls, and there are roaches crawling on the mailboxes in the stairway.
Not to mention the fact that the security door, meant to keep out people who don't actually live here, has been broken and hanging open for about a year now. It had been broken before but was always eventually fixed, only to break again, and apparently this time they just gave up.
Every once in a while, someone will put notices from the management on the doors, usually something simple about not putting grease down the drains. In the past, these messages were in English and Spanish, because a large percentage of the tenants are Hispanic. Recently, though, many notices have been written *only* in Spanish. I do not read Spanish.
The management does not seem to care about their tenants, which is why I look forward to getting out of here as soon as possible. I can only hope that eventually they will realize that their practices will drive away all of the good tenants.
