I have lived at Vermont Place for 2 years now. It is a great location close to downtown, IUPUI, restaurants, bars, etc. It has a workout room that is not too busy and the equipment is pretty good, free tanning beds (although they haven t changed the bulbs in over a year), a laundry room ($1.25 per wash and $1.25 per dry), free parking (I ll get to that later), and open-concept apartments. The maintenance staff is great and responds quickly to requests. However, the office staff will lie lie lie. They tell you exactly what you want to hear nothing else.
Another con is that there s really no large grocery store close. OMalia s is about a four block walk but is a little more expensive. And if you want a store like Target close think again. You ll have to drive at least 10-15 minutes to get somewhere like that.
And now parking If you don t feel like paying $125 a month for parking under the building or paying $75 for parking in the garage next door, they offer free parking. In theory it s great in reality it s not. DO NOT PARK YOUR CAR HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT IT. PEOPLE DO NOT GIVE A CRAP. THEY WILL BANG YOUR CAR WHEN THEY OPEN THEIR DOORS. Also, frequently car windows get smashed in even my boyfriend s car that had NOTHING in it had a window smashed.
Bums hang around a lot but they usually ignore you or just ask you for money. If you are a woman (like I am) I d be a bit weary of parking your car late at night and walking into the building.
So, if you want a great location (close to everything downtown) and have a crappy car, I recommend getting an apartment on the north side of the north tour it s the side that gets a lot of light.
