I see some marginal reviews so I decided to writie an an UNbiased one. I've lived here for a few months and it is a REALLY nice place. The owner and maint guy are always on hand to fix things, keep the place safe (virtually NO crime in the area, I think) and the landscaping looking great. I simply couldn't ask for better. My neighbors are all quiet, there is ample parking too. I guess the one thing I could say bad that I haven't read is that we all use window air conditioners. But hey, they put them in and take them out all for free and it does the trick. Actually puts me to sleep with the fan noise. Part of the character of this charming place. So, overall, I gotta give it TWO thumbs up.

This is definitely not an unbiased review... It was written by the landlord!!! This apartment building is old, decrepid, and is in one of the worst areas of downtown (crime-ridden and ugly). The closest supermarket is either a really shady Kroger on 16th St and the very expensive O'Malias downtown which closes early. So in practice you have to drive about half hour to do your grocery shopping in a regular supermarket.

I agree...it is a wonderful deal. This is just my personal feelings. I have not seen any crime. I feel very safe. I know windows get smashed downtown but have never heard of it here. Never seen it. If you like downtown, you'll love it here. Close to everything too. If you don't like downtown, don't move downtown. But for my money, Victoria is a great place. Unfortunately I will be moving this Fall to the West coast.

Maybe that's my problem, kinfesd. I'm assuming that these people want to know a realistic opinion on what the living conditions are like, and not opinions compared to other apartments in crappy areas. "I know windows get smashed downtown but have never heard of it here." Yeah, because you don't pay attention. I've had to call the police at LEAST 4 times in a year and a half there, because I witnessed someone trying to break into a car. Maybe I'm just observant, or maybe even nosey... But I bet those people appreciated that I saved their radio, etc.
