I'd give a million dollars to move out

The day that we moved into our apartment it was raining, and our window was leaking. From that point forward, it took six months for them to fix the leak. It took my going into the office on the verge of tears BEGGING for help. Of course, the property manager said that I needed to understand there'd recently been changes in the office staff and things were going to be "different" now (right, we've all heard that one before).

Once they fixed the leak, they tried to avoid and ignore my requests for compensation. They have a policy that they will repay your rent for each day they don't repair your apartment after 24 hours. Ok, so they owed me six months. Except they tried to say that they came out to the apartment on dates where we were INSIDE the apartment and would have noticed someone walking in our door. They said it was my responsibility to let them know that the leak continued, but since no one ever came out to the apartment we assumed that they knew it continued leaking (it's not likely to stop if you don't do something to fix it). But also I would think that the maintenance requests we turned in every few weeks would be sufficient notice that the leak continued on. Unfortunately, many of our requests were never even entered into the system at all.

I reported to the property manager that our bathtub was leaking. Three weeks later I had heard nothing and our entire apartment reaked of mold. I called the office and demanded that someone meet me at the apartment that day, and I finally got some response.

After all this, I began demanding compensation, and they gave me one month... so three weeks for the bath leak, and one week for the six months of the window leak' Obviously, they don't follow their policy that is intended to protect their tenants.

Now we're moving out. You have to give a 60-day notice. I told the property manager via email in May that we would be moving out at the end of our lease. They're now saying we have to pay an additional month of rent if we vacate within 30 days, and a month and a half of rent if we stay the 60 days (because, of course, that would put us outside our lease). So now they can't make exceptions to their company policies...as long as it benefits them.

No one (including the regional manager) will return phone calls. You have to harrass them to get them to fix maintenance issues, answer questions, or give compensation when it's (obviously) due. The complex is unsafe. They have had multiple car break-in's, gunshots, etc. in the past six months The fire department and police department come to the complex with sirens and lights going at LEAST once a week. The sidewalk lighting does not work at all, and they have not replaced or repaired it. We often have to park on the other side of the apartment complex and walk a block or more to our apartment. We've had multiple maintenance problems (even more than has been mentioned).

All-in-all, if you're a trashy person that doesn't mind living in the ghetto, then this is THE PLACE for you. If you have any sort of standards about where you live though, you won't want to live here.

PLEASE before you make the mistake of signing a lease with this company, email me at anotherunhappytenant@yahoo.com

SOmetimes paying 1200 or more to break a lease is impossible to a lot. You have to pay 2 months rent. So, please, employees stop posting messages!
