I recommend the Villages of Bent Tree- Update 7/14/09

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I've enjoyed living in this community. The staff have always been really helpful and friendly. The place is kept up well and maintenance is good about fixing things in a timely manner. A lot of the apartments have been remodeled but you will have to pay a little extra if you want newer appliances. My apartment did come with a washer and dryer in unit which has been awesome (especially at $600/month). We had some noisy neighbors but they were evicted in less than 2 months. The location is great...right around the corner from the theatre, walmart, lots of restaurants and grocery stores. I'll be moving out at the end of my lease only because they don't offer 3 bedrooms...otherwise I would stay another year.
***UPDATE**
Since writing my original review my perception of Villages has changed greatly based on my move out experience. I was nto informed I had to give a 60 day notice before moving out and although it was in the fine print of the 13 page lease (who really combs over those things) I would have appreciated a reminder. I was charged extra money for each day I was late in giving my notice, which I dealt with since I overlooked it in the lease. Whenever it was time to move out I called the office several times to request a walk thru inspection while I was present (which the lease notes that you can do)but no one ever returned my call even though I left more than one message. My move out date passed and finally I was able to get a hold of someone at the office who informed me they had already done my move out inspection while I was gone and had a list of things they were going to charge me for (Including not turning my keys in on time- which I kept, intending to get a walk thru inspection). They wanted to charge me for not scrubbing out the tub (which was not filthy) and also for spots on the carpet even though my carpet came with spots! I had taken pictures of the carpet when I moved in for this very purpose and told the manager that I had pictures to show that the carpet was being returned in the original condition as the lease stated and that I should not be charged. The manager was rude and didn't seem to care at all..she just kept quoting me lines from the lease rules like a robot...I don't think she even heard anything I said. I was willing to pay for missing the 60 day notice, and even for not scrubbing the tub sparkling clean but not for turning in the keys late (since no one returned my calls about the move out inspection) and the carpet. I got no deposit back (which is a first out of all the apaprtments I've lived in) and was left with an unfair bill of $500.I felt like they purposely dind't return my calls so that they would not have to do the move out inspection with me present and then charge me for not turning my keys in on time. Not more than 30 days later I'm receiving a collections letter from their lawyers to which I responded with a letter documenting what had happened and the pictures I took. I had really enjoyed living here but felt like they tried to screw me at the end. I know the ownership changed during my stay here, maybe it's partly due to that. k6tKKzmJrmATU2ap682S
