Was a good place to live... no longer

I've lived in Waterstone Apartments twice. Signing a one-year lease each time. The first time I lived in Waterstone, I had zero complaints about the complex. No problems with maintenance, friendly management, the gates worked... I can go on. It was great!
I moved back recently from out-of-state to Indiana. I wanted to sign a lease via fax, so I narrowed it down to two apartments I had lived in before... Waterstone and another. I decided to go with Waterstone... big mistake because nothing was the same as when I previously lived there (except the floor plan). I had a long list of things to be fixed when we moved in; and figured they would be good to their word in fixing them as they had done when I previously lived there. A couple of the items were fixed and none of the others were... and I got tired of talking to them about everything. The gates to the community have never worked during this second lease. And a previous reply to a post says, "that it's in the lease that the gates aren't guaranteed to work". Are you kidding'! We're paying for that gate with our rent (it's built into the rent somewhere along the line)!!! FIX IT!!
And the potholes... can they get any bigger' Hello, you don't have to wait until summer to fill them... you can do like the City of Indianapolis and patch them when the temperature is over 40 degrees on a day.
Oh, let me get to a few maintenance issues. A consistently dripping faucet (i.e., not a slow drip) had to be looked at 4 times before it was finally fixed correctly. This may not sound too bad to some people who live in apartments, but it is bad when the apartments do not charge a flat rate for water. Here at Waterstone, you are billed on your usage now (this wasn't the case when I lived here previously). So, a steady drip turns into a higher water bill for the month. Next, our dishwasher went out... and I got the same story that they had to order a motor, but the motor was on back order. Well, unlike the other poster on here, I finally drew the line. I told them that they needed to replace the dishwasher with one that wasn't being used (in a vacant apartment) or a new one. I didn't care which one, but we use the dishwasher and when I pay rent, I expect working appliances. This finally got taken care of over the course of 2 weeks... but, the fact of the matter is that it shouldn't take that long. The first response should not have been, "we'll just tell the tenant the part is on back order"... the first response should have been, "we'll take a dishwasher from a vacant unit and give it to them... and when the part comes in we'll fix the dishwasher that's broken and leave it in the vacant unit".
Okay, I've said enough. It isn't the worst apartment complex, but for the price Waterstone charges in the W. 38th St area... it should be better. If I wanted this type of service in this area, I would have chosen Idlewood across the street or Deer Cross. I would probably get the same level of service, but I would paying $200 less a month for rent. Waterstone: People are paying more for your community... start realizing that you need to have a higher level of service in this area... it's what we're paying for.
Needless to say, we won't be renewing our lease when it is up and I wouldn't recommend Waterstone to anyone. If you want to live in this area, save some money and pick one of the others (Idlewood, Wind Drift, Deer Cross, etc.).

Oh ya, and theres goose and dog crap EVERYWHERE..u cannot walk anywhere, and Do Not let your children run around in the grass! NO ONE cleans up after there dogs, with the exception of a few people in the back of the property that i have physically seen cleaning it up numerous times. No one gets in trouble for not cleanin up the crap either....makes the whole place CRAPPY!

Our electric bill is a little high for an apartment. But it hasn't gotten higher than $140 on a given month (maybe I should say, "yet"). And it didn't get higher than that when I lived here before. So, in my opinion, not awful like some of the other posts regarding electric bills... but not good either.
