I reciently moved into Westlake Apartments... and wish I had not. When I was doing my walk through I soon realized that nothing had been done to my apartment to get it ready for me. My carpets were filthy and stained, my dishwasher was rusty and melted on the inside. There was a huge leak in the kitchen that made it smell like sewer. They left all their tools in the kitchen. They neglected to close the access area under the stairs... it was screwed into the wall to keep it open. There was a dumpster in my backyard and holes in my carpet. I havent even mentioned that I put a single towel on the shelf in the linen closet and the entire shelving unit fell to the floor. Spiders everywhere and I didnt get the washer dryer hook-up I was promised.
To top things off I noticed that my door jam was calked back together and apeared as though the door had been kicked in... I soon was informed that I was right. The week before I moved in the entire apartment flooded they couldent find a key so they kicked a door down. A pipe in the flooring burst and flooded my apartment and went through the walls into my neighbors apartment. They didnt replace the carpet or the padding.
I went into the office for three days in a row to complain. They would fix a few things at a time and then leave acting as though there were no more issues to address. Finially I went into the main office and demanded to see the manager of the complex and the manager of maintence. I escorted them to my apartment so they could see the issues themselves.
The problems were finially addressed and my carpet, dishwasher, sink, and disposal, were replaced as well as the other things that were broken. I am now being told that I am not going to recieve my washer dryer that was promised in my lease. I was told that there must have been a "miscommunication" between myself and the leasing agent about the washer dryer... I know that there was not because it was one of the main things we wanted in an apartment.
I'm demanding a discount on my next month's rent for the hell they have put me through and they have offered a portable washer dryer for three months... after that I have to pay extra for it.
Considering legal action.
Dont move here.
