That "you get what you pay for" crap is just that...crap. Go spew that dialogue to someone else you mental defective. Westlake is terrible. The rent is extrodinarily high for as piss poor as the place is. There's absolutely no place to park, 1500 people clomp up and down my stairs daily, and I get up twice a night to check my damn car b/c there's always some low life wandering around out there. The maintenence crew is decent for all the problems you have, but the fellow residents are rediculous. My girlfriend can't even be outside alone without some dreg hooting and hollering. This apartment is "what I pay for" if the rent is 5 bucks. I will break my lease ASAP and I can tell you that even after living in the innards of Detroit, Westlake is a total hell hole.
