Serious toxic mold found in my apartment. I had to do and pay for my own test, and it came back with 3 types of toxic molds, one of them that sets off mycotoxins as detremental as stakyboktrus. one day while i was on the phone in my pajamas and wasn't expecting them until my fiancee got home from work 3 hours later like I thought we'd agreed on. The manager, and 2 maintenance people just barged in and walked straight upstairs to the spot I told them about, where it appeared clearly like a ring of mold seaping through the floor. My fiancee had made about 5 different complaints before that about water leaks, the main problem being upstairs where the gutter is separated and veers upwards, causing a steady stream of water when it rains, it ended up pooling up a fairly good sized sock soaking puddle of water right in front of the closet, several times after the heavy rains, especially in March, April, and May. They dismissed it so indifferently, "That ain't mold, I'm here to tell ya." And then tried once again to unsucessfully bang a hammer on the gutter a few times. It's even pretty obvious to me as a woman that in order to fix that properly, they would need to replace the whole gutter on that one side of that building. They did offer us an apartment w/ new carpeting and fresh paint, (We'd lived there for 3 1/2 years). We saw the apartment and agreed we would do it, although very inconvenient, we were so ready to get out of there, I had been chronically sick for 3 months at this point, just getting worse as the spring season started out very wet. I called and called for 2 weeks, letting them know we were ready. I wanted to move the beds first. It was absolutely horrifying when we lifted up that carpeting. BLACK mold, and gray and fuzzy mold, cracks in the foundation on the first floor, that could be leaking radon. Chris (the manager) avoided my calls for 2 weeks, and then there were so many times when the receptionist didn't answer. My fiancee had a violent respiratory reaction and missed a few days work and was almost hospitalized from lifting the carpet up without a mask. (I told him he was dumb not to wear one). My fiancee was also in the hospital for 1 week with suddden onset pneumonia that damn near killed him, because it went straight to his bloodstream and caused toxemia. The doctors found that very rare, but now I understand after doing my research. These molds have made me so sick, and depressed due to being constantly ill for almost the first half of 2007. And I was diagnosed w/ asthma before that sometime, and both of us have been living in what we called "the sick house". I'm doing better, but I still have chronic asthma to live with now, and i have all the records to back it up. WE JUST RECEIVED A SUMMONS TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT FOR AUG 2ND TO PAY THIS MONTH'S RENT, PLUS COURT FEES, AND OF COURSE, THEY WANT US EVICTED. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TALK WITH CHRIS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, THAT I FELT WE DESERVED SOME SORT OF SETTLEMENT, I ASKED FOR 4 ADDITIONAL MONTHS OF FREE RENT. THAT IS DOING HIM A FAVOR. HE AVOIDED, MADE EXUSES WHEN I GOT TO THE OFFFICE TO TRY TO TALK TO HIM... I.E. '\"I'M BUSY HAVING LUNCH W/ MY WIFE CAN YOU COME BACK AT 5:30 OR 5:45' IT WAS SO OBVIOUS HE WASN'T MAKING ANY ACCOMODATIONS TO SPEAK TO ME, SO I JUST GAVE HIM MY OWN PORTFOLIO, INCLUDING ALL THE MISSED WORK EXUSES, MEDICAL ADVISORIES FROM MY PULMONOLOGIST AND FROM OUR FAMILY DOCTOR RE; THEIR MEDICAL OPINION THAT MOLD SEEMED TO BE A CONSISTENT FACTOR MAKING ME SO SICK, WITH NO OTHER FINDINGS. ALL OTHER TESTS WERE TAKEN TO RULE OUT OTHER POSSIBLE ILLNESSES. CHRIS NOR ANY OF THE OTHER STAFF WERE NOT ONE BIT COMPASSIONATE ABOUT US LIVING IN A "SICK HOUSE", CONFIDENTLY CONCLUDED "THAT AIN'T MOLD", AND NOW LOOK, I TRIED TO MAKE A REASONABLE AND FAIR SETTLEMENT WITH HIM AND NOW, I'M FORCED TO HAVE TO GET A MOLD SPECIALIST ATTORNEY. I have no worries at all, and I'm not really the suing type. I don't want to put anyone out of business!! But my god, I have all the pictures, lab specimens of the mold and what types they are (all concluded rare and toxic) My pharmacy records of all the medications I took prescribed for pneumonia, chronic bronchitis and chronic asthma, and Steve has all his hospitilization records, Our doctors strong professional advice (from the pulmonologist) that there seems to be a strong and consistent link to my respiratoy ailments and the mold, and advising me to be removed to a mold free environment at once..... Etc.... Our own documentation of what days we called and complained about the water issues that obviously resulted in the mold due to neglegence. The maintenance are nice people, but I hate to say it but they do just enough to make you think they did something, and never ever leave any type of work ticket. To me, they may like it that way perhaps, no accountability on paper. But we did our bookeeping. I hate to say all of this, because one of them became a close friend of ours, and it kills me to say that. But now he won't even speak or wave hello to us. I feel very sad and hurt that it had to come to all this. I hope our problem is an isolated issue. But Lord, I hope they remove that toxic mold properly before moving another family in, not just covering it with carpeting. At this point I give it a 1.0 rating, and the staff just seems to be more flakey and lazy. Very undependable. (Not always that way, too bad) k6tKKzmJrmATU2ap682S
