A Lot of Issues

I have had quite a few issues with The Whitaker. First of all, I know you can run into this problem almost anywhere, and it is not necessarily The Whitaker's or Van Rooy's fault; however the neighbors above me think it is perfectly acceptable to hold parties until 4am on an early Monday mornings, and the neighbors next to me smoke like chimneys, and since the ventilation system is terrible, it is so strong that it smells like someone is smoking inside my apartment.

We also had issues with our air conditioning going out 7 times in 7 weeks, the first time being the first day we moved in on a 95 degree August day. Maintenance would come to fix it promptly, and then it would break 2 or 3 days later. It wasn't until the 7th time it broke for them to finally realize the issue and fix it once and for all. Another issue was with the pin on the shower faucet not staying up, and subsequently not allowing us to shower. As I mentioned above, maintenance was prompt in getting here, however they just forced the pin up, and of course when it fell down again the next day we had to call them out again to actually come fix it, and not just tinker around with it. Also, the dish washer was not nailed into the wall when we moved in, so when I went to load my first batch of dishes the damn thing came tumbling out at me.

Regarding safety, the area is going through gentrification, but there are still quite a few ominous folks who like to hang around the front of the building and the alley way next to it, but I knew that coming in.

The plus side is the landlord lady does keep the entrance ways and hallways clean, and overall the apartments are very clean. Many of the fixtures had also been updated right before we moved in, which is always a plus. Most of all, what attracted us to The Whitaker is that it is incredibly cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for.
