Super Bad Customer Service

My application was approved and my deposit was taken in August and I was told I would have the exact address by the end of October. Well, apparently the company that owns the apartments has changed since then and the new company decided they no longer wish to approve me, this is despite the fact that they have not returned my deposit. They didn't even bother to notify me and I almost missed the deadline for renewing my current lease, which would have left me homeless. The person there could only tell me that she couldn't help me and she also couldn't connect me with anyone that could (she refused to give me the number to their corporate office). The reason she denied me she said was that there was a fraud alert on my credit report and something about bad checks which is untrue. I checked my credit report before applying and after she told me this. and there is nothing negative on there, my credit score is 790. My income is more than twice the amount of the rent, so I'm not sure on what basis they pick their tenants, but if you feel like wasting $35 on an application fee then go right ahead and apply. PS. they still haven't returned my deposit.
