After 6 Months at Woodbridge

The apartment was fairly nice overall. We had a 1 bdrm with a great wooded view. The windows on opposite sides of the apt create a nice cross breeze in the summer. Unfortunatly there are no washer and dryer connections, but the laundry room is pretty nice. I did have a small problem with safety after about 11pm at night. Around my third month living here I was attacked by a mother and her two sons because I was white. They threatened to shoot me and told me that I was not to come out of my house after 11pm for any reason... or else. The staff is helpful, although they aren't overly friendly or caring. We signed a 12 month lease, but are moving after 6 months due to a job relocation. WARNING: They have not only charged us the lease breaking fee (one months rent), but have also charged us for three extra months and a 300 dollar apartment cleaning fee (this before they have come into our apt or done a walk through), evidently they charge this fee to any resident moving out). The total move out cost is nearly 1800 dollars. I would not recommend these apartments or any Gene B. Glick apartments due to the outlandish and abusive use of hidden fees and underhanded tactics.

Though I don't work for this particular community, I am very familiar with the Glick company. Within your lease is a clause stating that if you decide to break your lease within the first lease term, you are subject to the Early Termination Fee which equals one month's rent, a 60 day notice, and Refurbishment charges which include painting, cleaning, and carpet cleaning. This is to help recoup monies that they will have to spend in order to get your apartment ready for the new resident. These were the terms of the contract you signed and should have been explained at the time of your move in.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having such safety trouble in the complex. I'm sure if you filed a police report and spoke with the management, you would feel much safer. Recently, the complex did have an officer come in and speak with residents about safety in a meeting at the clubhouse. The management and residents have also created a new crime watchers system. I am on my second year lease in Woodbridge and live by myself, but feel safe because I have neighbors who care. My advice, before you decide to move, is to at least get to know your neighbors. There are some great people here, who have lived here for since the 80's and 90's, and absolutly love it. I hope everything works out.
