My girlfriend and I moved into Woodridge Apts Feb 9th of 2008, so we've been here for three weeks and one day. WE'RE ALREADY READY FOR OUR LEASE TO END. If you're thinking about moving here, I suggest you think twice!

Our set move in date was Feb. 9th but, it took them FOREVER to get our apartment ready. We weren't able to take a walk through of our apartment until Feb 7th! We'd call many MANY time during Janurary to request a walk-through but she continually said that IT WASN'T READY. It REALLY put us in a crunch and was a MAJOR inconvenience because the lease to our current apartment at the time was set to end Feb 9th. After Rhonda showed us an amazing looking model apartment in early Jan we paid our apartment holding fee/security deposit. It was non-refundable, so we stopped our apartment search! We thought everything was a done deal!

On Feb 7th we came to walk through our apartment. The address was 7204 Knobwood Dr Apt D. The day we showed up to view our apartment, Rhonda Ameen told us that she had two apartments for us to look at because the one they originally had, had a leak. I was thinking, "What the ----' We filled out our application, were accepted and paid our security deposit in EARLY Jan and our apartment STILL isn't ready' We move in two days!" I started to get worried. She said that the maintenance would still fix it if we wanted to move in, but if we didn't... We could take the other apartment. She didn't even go with us to walk through the two apartments. I KNEW something was up! She just gave us the two apartment keys and said, "Don't mention this... I could get in trouble."

When we got to 7204 Knobwood Dr Apt D. I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES. I kid you not. First, the carpet was HORRIBLE. I'm talking red spots, paint spots and OBVIOUS cut out replacements. It didn't even look like the carpet had been cleaned. It basically looked like someone had just moved out. I couldn't believe it. The paint didn't look fresh at all. The kitchen cabinets and counters were chipped. The hallway carpet by the water heater was wet from a leak. I mean, it was soaked. The apartment smelled! I just couldn't believe it. It looked NOTHING like the model. I mean, NOTHING! My girlfriend and I just looked at each other... In shock.

The other apartment (I can't remember the address) wasn't much better. The carpet was sad... The paint wasn't fresh. The apartment smelled like amonia and bleach. I wanted to throw up. The carpet had paint droppings. It was just sad that they'd even offer anyone an apartment like this. I really couldn't believe it. I was PISSED. AT THAT POINT, I knew why they waited so long to show us our apartment. They wanted to put us in a position where we had no choice but to move there. My girlfriend damn near started crying. I mean, we have a child... We HAD to have a place to stay. We were pissed.

We went back to the leasing office. I told Rhonda that both of the apartments were dissapointing and just unacceptable. I told her that they had to be joking. We let her know we were very disappointed. She tried to tell us that the maintenance is good about coming in and fixing things. I told her and I quote, "When you move into an apartment, everything should already be fixed. They're shouldn't be dirty and wet carpet. An apartment should have clean carpet and fresh paint. An apartment should smell fresh." She said that she'd try to find something else and that she'd let us know by "tomorrow afternoon". Our lease was set to end the 9th and there she was talking about letting us know the 8th, in the afternoon. I was so pissed and at that point I was thinking about moving all of our things into a storage and staying with a family member until we could find something new.

It was a STRESSFUL day for my girlfriend and I. Not knowing where we were going. We decided to wait on Rhonda to call us back. She called us back and told us she'd found something better. We were desperate so we went and visited the apartment. It was better than the other two apartments. It had fresh paint and smelled fresh. The carpet wasn't anywhere near as bad as the first two, but it still needed cleaning. You could see faint red/dark marks. The kitchen counters were still chipped, but we decided we could work with it. This apartment was 100 times better, even though it STILL wasn't what an apartment should be like. We accepted it and signed the lease just because we had nowhere else to go. Rhonda said that they would clean the carpet "again" and fix any little things. We signed the lease and paid our first months rent.

We filled out the inspection paper.
- Carpet (IN ALL ROOMS) - Faint Red/Dark Marks
- Carpet - Obvious/dull looking patch marks
- Patio door doesn't lock
- Shower faucet doesn't really work... Either extremely hot or extremely cold
- Master bedroom window doesn't lock and is broken. Cold air comes through. Room freezing
- Kitchen counter has chip marks and is cut uneven
- Master bedroom small closet has no bar to hang clothes up

To this date... They have only fixed one thing. The bar in the small master bedroom closet. They came in to fix the patio door a couple of weeks ago, but the maintenance dude said they had to order the part. They haven't been back since and we've mentioned it twice to Rhonda. We've also mentioned the bedroom window twice. Still no action. The maintenance guys seem unprofessional. They walk into your apartment after a knock or two. My girlfriend puts the chainlock up when I'm not home in fear of one of them walking in. It even took them two weeks just to get us two mailbox keys. We've decided to clean our own carpet.

I definitely wouldn't advise anyone to move here. The price is cheap, but it seems you get what you pay for here... even less than what you pay for actually. The apartments are a nice size and have potential... Just sad maintenance and management. Rhonda Ameen is very misleading. I haven't seen any thug kids or any drama... I think I live in a good building, which is about the only true positive thing. I also haven't seen any abandoned cars or anything like that. There's plenty of parking. The apartment complex is clean... at least in the front. I just wouldn't advise these apartments to anyone. I think we can deal with this for a year, but after this we're gone. NO way we're renewing.

To the guy with the girlfriend you have probably already moved out of woodridge if you have GREAT! Man I am still going to respond to you. This takes me to mind of two families who moved in about 1 yr ago to woodridge. One woman with 2 kids...Rhonda took and showed her a two bedroom with two windows, apparently a larger one than they ended up giving her. She was mad as hell. Then Rhonda lied said she never showed it to her and tried to charge her the same rent. Now they say that the apts. are only bad due to tenants then they say they are not bad on their office smart review that one Cynthia woman put on here. But she contradicts herself in that and has a smart mouth. Man totally not the expertise of good management or bookkeeping. For the person also looking for section 8 apts. Get a house. There are so many more people taking section 8 for homes now. Least you would not have to worry about ghetto neighbors above and below you . Wish you all well hope you moved man. If not use some wisdom and get your girlfriend and yourself out of there.

GET THE F U C K OFF SECTION 8 YOU WELFARE MOOCH! I don't know why you didn't move in with a family member and demand a refund! They can not legally hold any money if you do not rent from them! IT'S CALLED SMALL CLAIMS COURT DOOFUS! You signed a lease to a place that you never even saw until two days prior to move in, NOT SMART! Would you buy a house site unseen? Would you buy a car site unseen! Next time use your brains. You are in a lease now and it's time for you to learn a lesson. If it's cheap, it's GHETTO!
