Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2001
Initially Walden seems like a good deal. The apartments are spacious and offer a nice view of the wooded grounds. However, if you're concerned about people getting high in your building, you might want to live elsewhere. We complained to security about drugs being used in our entryway -- so security came out with a can of air freshener to hide the smell. We had idiot neighbors who kept odd hours and didn't seem to care about the "quiet after 10 PM" rule. The guy across the hall played his cheezy Casio keyboard pretty loud, and the people under us used to bang on their ceiling because we "walked too loud" (thin floors). We went for 3 weeks in the heat of summer 2001 without air conditioning. We also had problems with our plumbing not working, and the lovely Jenn-Air stove/grill which would go on strike twice a year. Maintenance were slow to respond to our requests, and usually ignored them completely, requiring us to ask multiple times. Management didn't care or didn't know about the problems because every few months they would quit and be replaced by brand new people (who didn't care either). Overall, I wouldn't allow my dog to live here, but if you're a prostitute, drug dealer, or some other burden of society, I'd be in favor of sentencing you to 20 years to life in Walden.
