Taken a turn for the worse...

This place was really coming along: the crime was being controlled, and tons of improvements had been made. The staff CARED... but then things really CHANGED over here. Now, after it's taken a turn for the worse, because of the economy, we'll probably be stuck here another year. Been here for 3 years. Before, our main concerns were basically the appearance of the grounds. That has certainly not improved much (though there doesn't seem to be as much trash laying around, the place just lacks the colorful, pleasant first impression it once had.) But honestly, that's the least of our concerns now.
Our wonderful Property manager, Rachel, moved... I wish, we'd moved along with her. She used to walk the property and really involve herself with all that was going on So pleasant and obviously genuinely concerned for us as residents. The new manager seems to hide out in the office. We ve never seen her. Since Rachel s left, the crime is closing in on us, the Crime Watch meetings have ended, it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach anyone in the office and they have no voicemail anymore... the phone just rings and rings and rings...... I've given up trying. HEY, BUT THEY DO HAVE AN ONLINE MAINTANANCE REQUEST!!!
Our broken washer and dryer in the building went unfixshed for almost a year (despite multiple complaints... as I've said, we've given up.) I guess that's okay, because toting all our laundry to Lizton is a pain, but it's free. The lights all over the perimeter and on the grounds flicker annoyingly forever until they finally go out and no one fixes them, despite the requests... which means my brave HUSBAND takes the dog out at night (and quickly runs back in when he hears gunshots!) Our sweet neighbor has dealt with Wyckford's lack of concern for over three years. Her downstairs unit has leaked horribly with no adequate repair until recently when a torrential rain overcame her place and they were forced to knock down some walls and replace the carpet. (Apparently, they never offered to give her a new unit somewhere on the property, despite her requests.... PLUS! Her rent went UP when she was forced to renew because of financial reasons!!!)
BAH!!!
NOW, THERE ARE DEFINITELY MORE THAN A FEW GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE, THOUGH:
.
I have to be honest, though I can t say much for the OFFICE STAFF, we absolutely love our neighbors!!! We rarely have trouble with bothersome neighbors. The fire alarm pulling prank (which happened at least 2-4 times a week last year LOL) has stopped, there are no noise complaints!!! Though there have been some occasions when the rent statement was a little last minute, it s never been a problem. We all know when rent is due. No difficulty with the handling of our payments. The apartments are actually beautiful inside and the price for them is pretty good. They actually put in a wheelchair ramp and other specialized equipment for a new resident, which was nice. The sidewalks have been salted so far this winter and THE LACK-OF-PARKING SPACE PROBLEM IS BASICALLY GONE! They ve really cracked down on illegal parking. When a tree landed on someone s car during a storm last year, they dealt with it very quickly and they respond to busted, frozen pipes a lot faster too so that we don t have to be out of water for long.
Over-all, you get what you pay for here. We ll probably renew again this year because of financial reasons and because of our pets and we re hoping that our new manager will find her groove soon and pick up the serious slack. We re thankful we have a roof over our heads and with this economy, that s a plus.

Additional thought: In the 3 years that we have been here, we are now seeing yet another change in ownership/mgmt. Until this place gets some consistency, it's going to be rough to get anything really moving in the right direction. I'm happy that we are leaving in a month.

Yes, you're right except for one thing. My neighbors are awful. I was living here pretty peacefully until the past few months since they moved in. I'm about to leave since I was double charged for my rent and it screwed up my bank account. The lease office did work with me to get it fixed, but I'm just tired of so many other problems with neighbors and the building itself.

I agree largely with the person stating this review. I LOVED this place when we first came. The office staff was friendly and it was not uncommon to see them walking the grounds. Even i, who have let my husband deal with the office the entire 3 years we've lived here, actually recognized the previous staff (and they me). The current staff, i wouldn't be able to pick out of a line-up. I HATE calling as it is a hit and miss thing, and the hours seem rather random on Saturdays. The lights were out (ALL OF THEM) in one of the hallways here for over 2 weeks, and the second time we called about it, we were told they'd been fixed. Apparently fixing them doesn't mean actually REPLACING dead light bulbs. They were, however, actually fixed after that. At least the screamers are gone. Life is at least quiet again.
