These apartments are the worst. Never live here. Here is a letter that I wrote but had a change of heart because I just wanted to live peacefully until my lease was over, but I have no hot water and haven't for 2 days now with no reply from the staff.
To whom it may concern,
My name is XXXXXXXX and I moved into XXXXXXXX on August 21, 2008. Since I signed my lease it has been nothing short of a living nightmare. Please let me explain. When I came to sign my lease and move in, the apartment manager was not in so it was handled by the maintenance man that was at hand. The apartment manager had quoted me a lower price on the phone but this price that I had to pay to move in was higher, paying for the reminder of August and September. I moved in with no complaints. In the process of moving in I couldn t. The place was so filthy that I couldn t bring my belongings in without cleaning up. For example I was told that the carpets where cleaned before I moved in. I cleaned them and noticed that my carpet wasn t a gray tint it was actually green. Nothing but black water filled my carpet cleaner. A drip pan was and still is missing from my oven. In the master bedroom there was writing in pencil on the wall. Finger prints of children that had sticky fingers on the windows, left over razor blades and other personal items in the bathrooms. A refrigerator that smelled like something dead had been left in it for weeks. The master bedroom sink was leaking from the bottom causing a soaking wet area in the carpet and warping of the cabinet. Just to name a few.
I cleaned the apartment and complained to the apartment manager. She said that she was sorry no one should have to go through that, the first of many sorry to come. So when September come I get a letter on my door stating that I was behind in rent and I had a late charge on top of that! How can one have a late fee and a behind notice when they just paid there balance in full' So I walked down talked to the apartment manager and she assured me that she would take care of it and that it seemed that I paid too much to move in and that 125 would be taken off of October s rent. In the mean time my dishwasher breaks on September 18th while doing basic housework. I smell the refrigerator again. So I move it all the way out. Bottle caps from baby bottles, paper, mold, dirt, grim, just the cure for something is on that floor. I call the apartment manager, again she s sorry but its not a maintenance issue, even though maintenance should have had it cleaned before I moved in, I digress. I inform her that my dishwasher is broken and she tells me to call it in. So I do.
I receive my November rent notice. The charges are still on there from the first rental notice but now there are new ones. So again I go to the rental office, to ask about the charges and also to inform her that my dishwasher was and still is broken. Now I m informed that I am not getting the 125 off and that she still hasn t heard anything back from hq and that I will occur late charges for October s rent. On September 30th I came to her office with my rent payment she told me to mail it. I went straight to the mailbox on the complex and mailed the rent. October 6th comes no debits from my checking account 7th on the 8th I call and ask what the process was because I still hadn t had a debit from my account. She told me she would contact HQ and find out for me. I call my bank on the 9th it was taking out. She calls me later that afternoon and tells me the same as my bank. So when she tells me I have a late fee. I tell her I mailed it the same day she told me to and where. She informs me that the mail carrier doesn t always pick up the mail there and not to mail it there, and the late charges are still valid. ARE YOU SERIOUS' To make matters worse she couldn t make heads or tails of my rental statement and guessed as to what the charges are for. She then informed me that I hadn t paid enough to move in something short of 33.xx, and to just pay everything to be on the safe side. Needless to say I am LIVID!
This is not the way any type of business is to be ran! These apartments used to be nice and they still can be if basic things are handled and done and not put aside. My husband had to put a light in the hallway a basic bulb because I was told by the apartment manager to make a request after moving in and a month later still not having a light to see to get into my apartment. Word of mouth is more powerful then weapon known to man, and the word of mouth that speaks on French Quarter apartments I have told everyone of the treatment I received here. Everyone that I have bumped into around here is doing the same. When you ask your tenants if they could go back in time and make a choice rather they would move here or not. They shouldn t say this place wouldn t even be an option. Meaning that the maintenance and management is horrible, they are hand to hand. Simply meaning if there was a good or fair manager based on your scale then there would be good or fair maintenance because that manager would be making sure that was done. If there was good or fair maintenance based on your scale then there would be a good or fair manager because the maintenance would be on top of thing because they wouldn t want the slack from the manager.
I am a business major at the University of Louisville; I also work at AT&T and handle customer service and technical support of dsl. I have worked in customer service most of my adult life and you and no one else in this company can tell me that this is good customer service and that this, the way your customer feels is apart of your mission statement. In closing I ask you to govern yourselves accordingly, as for myself I m stuck for a year, but believe me only for a year.
Oh by the way have pics. The 1st the floor after the bleach soaked for 20 mins and I cleaned up. The 2nd is the stove they still to this day haven't fixed. The 3rd is the facet that they still haven't fixed and it runs worse. I could do pics all night but this last one is my cabinet that is falling apart.
