Nelson Estates is a bad place to live. They advertise free heat, but the heat they provide only works until it get's in the single digits temperature wise; especially if you get an apartment on the 3rd floor or at the end of a building.
Another problem I experienced when I lived there is about security. The way these apartments are set up, you can climb the fronts of the buildings using the air conditioners and you can break in an apartment through the patio door. The office won't admit it's a problem either.
Another bad problem has to do with mold. I have spoke to several people in the back buildings that complain about mold on there walls. Management's solution to the problem is to paint over it and hope it doesn't show up again.
One other thing that's important to remember is to not expect to get your security deposit back. My lease said they would take out money for carpet cleaning, but then not only didn't I get back the rest of it, they also sent me a bill claiming damages.
When I've talked to people that used to live there, most of them told me there were a bunch of bogus damages that they didn't do. One of them got a bill for a thousand bucks.
It seems like every time I go to the office for something, there is a new manager there. In fact, in the last two years there have been 6 or 7 managers.
If given the chance to live there again, I think I would prefer to live on the streets first.
