Lived at Foxfire Apartments for 2 years

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007

My wife and I lived at Foxfire Apartments from August 2005 till August 2007. We moved because my job relocated me to another state. Despite a few problems, my wife and I enjoyed our time at Foxfire. Here is the story regarding the telephone and internet problems. When Foxfire first opened up, a corporate decision was made to go with a telephone and Internet Service Provider (ISP) from New Jersey. This company provided such poor service that they were fired. A corporate decision was made to go with a local Indiana telephone and ISP provider to prevent the same type of problems. Unfortunately, this local company was so poorly run and their personnel lacked the technical expertise to provide reliable service that the company went bankrupt. Once this company went bankrupt, all telephone and ISP service was stopped. This lasted for approximately 3 months (January to March 2007) until Verizon came in and installed new wiring and set up the service. Now, everything works great. All during this difficult time, Sherri (the manager) would keep me informed of the status. She is a great manager and her staff is very personable. The maintenance staff is great and within 24 hours of calling in a repair, a maintenance person would come by the apartment to make the repair.

Some challenges of living in the Foxfire Apartments include the quality of water. There is no water softening equipment being used so the water is very hard. Consequently, soap and detergents have a difficult time dissolving and there is a lot of calcium build-up in the sinks and showers. Also, Foxfire has the most lenient pet policy so there are some very large dogs that live there. Suggest renting a 2nd floor unit to avoid hearing the dogs walking around. Finally, the rents are near the top for the Lafayette area. The units are newest in the area, but the high rents also discourage the Purdue University students from renting. This is actually a good thing since it makes for a quiet community of older folks. Overall, we highly recommend living at Foxfire Apartments.
