My wife and I lived at Foxfire for 2 years. When time came to move out we moved all of our furniture 1 week early in order to take a little time to tidy up. We cleaned everything even if it didn't need it. From the bathroom floors and fixtures to the stove, refridgerator and kitchen cabinets to the washer and dryer and celing fans to the storaage closet on the patio. After all of this we had one of the assistant managers named David Anderson come over to the apartment and thoroughly inspect it and go through the move out check list with us. We received a copy of the check list and were told that we would get $250.00 of our original $500.00 deposit back within 45 days and that the other half was kept for administrative costs. Of course the $100.00 my wife and I were charged for a background credit check was not part of this other $250.00.
Anyhow about two weeks later they sent us a letter and said that they were going to charge us 75.00 for 3 damaged blinds, this now reduced the amount of our returned deposit to $175.00 And that we would soon be receiving a check for that amount within the required 45 day period they had to return our money.
Several weeks later we got our check for $175.00. The very next day after we had deposited the check in the bank we got another letter from Foxfire stating that there had been an error in issuing us the check for the deposit. That we now owed them the amount of the check $175.00 plus an additional $200.00 for painting the ceilings of the apartment. There is such a thing in the law called reasonable wear and tear and as the management told me themselves that every apartment got a fresh coat of paint and the carped cleaned and that was considered reasonable wear and tear. But now as you can see all they are trying to do is screw me. I told them since i have pictures of everything and all of the original paperwork I welcome seeing them in small claims court to dispute their claims. Renter beware this apartment complex

i feel for you...my husband and i sort of went through the same thing. we were the first tenants in our building. for a while we were the ONLY tenants in our building. when we finally got neighbors, they didn't work and had people coming and going every hour on the hour. some people would show up at our door and ask for them as well. we tried to tell management about the "drug dealers" but they didn't care. they let there pit bull dog run loose without a leash...at the time i was bringing a newborn baby home from the hospital and the dog came running at me. we were so angry. we filed complaint after complaint and no one listened. we lived at foxfire for 2 years as well. we were NEVER late on a payment and in fact, one of the reasons i lived there was because i work in social work and i did not want my clients to be able to live around me. well eventually i believe they were allowing the "background check" to slip a little. anyway when we moved we also cleaned everything. our apartment was pretty clean anyway but we decided to shampoo carpets and do all the necessary things to get our deposit back...yet they still screwed us...not as bad as you though...i can't wait to hear your results!!!!! go get em!!!!!

I'm not sure if you all are reviewing the right place. Have lived here since July '08. The apartment quality is great (Ive lived in Ohio, Milwaukee, Chicago in the past 5 years and this is by far the best apartment I've lived in). You referenced drunken parties spilling out in the streets? I've lived here the whole school season and not once heard a drunken party spill out in the streets. You mentioned the staff. I have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. If you report a problem, they are there within minutes to get it corrected. If you didn't get your deposit back, welcome to apartment renting. You never get your full deposit back no matter how clean you think it is. If it was so bad, why stay for two years. Oh...I know..You wanted to live at the closest thing to upscale apartment living in Lafayette. You live in a college town. There are 50,000 college students just down the road. For the person who commented on never being late on a payment (do you want an award? we all pay our rent on time). I highly doubt a pit bull was allowed to run loose as they screen the type of animal you bring on the property. For anyone reading this, this is hands down the best property in Lafayette! The staff is professional, and the grounds are improving (the complex is newer construction so trees are still growing, etc). I am so sick of people claiming they got screwed! If you feel screwed, welcome to the real world! Go buy a house!

DO NOT LISTEN THE RESPONSE ON 4/16/09!!! I lived in the complex and you can read my review titled Not Worth It. How bad is it? So bad that I actually check the reviews of this complex one year after leaving! I do this to clarify any misrepresentations that a reviewer might make which could persuade someone to sign a lease at this awful property! This is my good deed to Lafayette society as I live far away from there now.

I have lived at Foxfire since 2005. My Husband and I love it here. It's so funnyto get on here and read others reviews bc we have lived here for so long now and have seen many residents come and go as well as leasing agents. The office staff and maintance are wonderful. We have always had many conversations up at the office and every time a leasing agent left it was to better them selves. LOL! If you can't handel change then buy a house! As far as the deposits they tell you when you move in what part is refundable maybe you weren't listening. You have to return the apartment in the condition you recieved it in. That means no hair on the sink....etc.... Good luck to all you over sensitive apartment hunters you may have a hard time finding a better place than Foxfire in Lafayette. Oh and guy with the pictures...good luck they have pics to...crazy for you to think they wouldn't.

Good luck in small claims court, are you serious. Your case won't hold up. Do you realize what you are dealing with? An apartment should be left in the same shape as you moved into, unless broken blinds come with every apartment these days. Wouldn't it have been easier to go buy the blinds yourself, and hope that you get your deposit back. It's obvious people are lazy these days and can't clean up after themselves. I've been to foxfire before to acquire about some information I'm pretty sure the deposit is $325.00, not $500.00. They tell you exactly what is refundable and what is not ,APARTMENT PERMITTING, meaning don't break blinds, and don't trash your apartment and you won't be charged for those things. As far as I'm concerned, Foxfire is the nicest, newest, and cleanest apartments I've seen before in Lafayette, IN. It's a very safe community and the staff is very helpful. Check it out for yourself if you are concerned! To the guy that is complaining about his deposit and thinking he's actually got a chance in court, good luck with that. Sounds to me like you have too much time on your hands and all you like to do is complain.

I have never lived here. I was planning to rent but, found out the management did not return our concern regarding the law that allows a family of four can a one bedroom. We had the Housing Dept. called the Fox, and David (Fox employee that we worked with) should call us back. He said his Manager was off until Monday and would contact us, but he and his manager never contacted or call our cell. Then we decided to live at the Franklin Park Apartment and turned out to be the best Apartment I have ever lived. For your information : The Franklin Park Apt. Manager knows law better than Foxfire Apt. Manager about a family of four can rent a one bedroom apartment. It is Indiana Law. Surprise? No. A responsible Manager should have learned or read everything related within their responsibilities.

So I'm the person that posted on 4/16. Still here..still loving it. Still no issues. Still enjoy the staff. So to the person who responded on 5/08/09, obviously you did us all a favor and departed. Hopefully you will continue that favor and stay far far away.
