Parking is a joke. The only way you can guarantee an opportunity to park within walking distance of your building is to lease a parking space in the carport. It is extraordinarily noisy, and I now know more about my neighbors' personal problems than I care to. Maintenance is a bit of a joke, we had to withhold rent in order to get our unit repaired (our toilet was not operational from the day we moved in, took two months to "look at it"). The construction site is an eyesore, however the sunset views from the western exposure units are spectacular. There are no "section 8ers" in the complex, however up and down the street are town homes that are nothing but. The school system is AWFUL. We pulled our first grader out of Salk Elementary and are now homeschooling instead. There is a pool, it is small, and with such a huge complex, often crowded, and as a result, difficult to keep clean. There is a coin op washer and dryer in every building. Six units to a building, one washer and dryer . . . you do the math. The building hallways themselves are supposed to be cleaned monthly. I have lived here for 15 months, they have cleaned three or four times.

That being said. We are in the 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath unit and it is wonderful and spacious. The master bedroom is very large, indeed. I adore the apartment itself, but I have grown weary of renting. I may be a bit biased because I don't like Merrillville. The town itself seems to be reaching a bit far out of its' grasp and is not as nice as I previously thought. Right down 30 is another complex, and that's Schererville. It's nicer, but the units are smaller, however they are installing Pergo flooring and there is a playground on the property and the new walking path is adjacent. If you want a good school district and nicer grounds/units, just go there. Unfortunately the Broadmoor needs to improve itself a bit.

I don't want to sound so wholly negative, I do like it here sometimes. Like I said, I think my main problem is that I am weary of renting.
