Goodbye and good riddance.

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2009
My fiance and I have been living here for nearly three years. When we moved in, it was under different management, but we were duped into taking a much shabbier apartment than we were originally shown--unfortunately, I really needed a place so, we settled for it.
The new management, while slightly more attentive and friendly doesn't get very much done. The laundry room--which our building shares w/ two others--is basically rotting from leaky machines and poor steam ventilation. Half the time the machines are in disrepair and take a long time to get fixed--but they waste no time in remodeling a brand new leasing office, only to move it to another complex a couple years later--which I'm sure also got remodeled.($$$)
They also don't seem to be very selective in who they rent to. Each year we are here it gets trashier and noisier. Kids roam the parking lots at all hours sometimes, all the lamps in the courtyard seem to stay broken...etc. The person next to us likes to bump their music through our bedroom wall at all hours even after our complaints to management (and police).
Their ad on Rent.com boasts of lovely landscaping. It's not. The grass gets cut...big deal. Any actual landscaping this place ever got was done at least a decade before the new management took over. It's all very drab and worn out, dying trees and scattered rocks and extremely cracked parking lot. The front lawn of our building is littered with fallen shingles and we can't get anyone to make a real effort to REMOVE the bee's nest from our balcony. They keep returning. Only the very front of the complex looks somewhat taken care of. We live in the back--go figure.
Also, tenants have no control over the temperature of their own apartments. Sometimes, my fiance and I have to open all our windows in the dead of winter because we're sweating and suffocating or turn on our air to combat the heater when the weather turns nicer and they still haven't shut off the heat. The heat runs through water pipes, so once weather gets below freezing they sometimes freeze and there's no heat--unless I turn on the oven. Maintenance has been known to just say, "Well, we can't do anything. It's just really cold outside." Yeah, we noticed. That's why we need the heater to work... Good thing we don't have kids.
We're really not the super-complaint couple from hell. I swear. We've just really had enough of this ghetto trash-heap and so we're planning on moving VERY soon. If you have any standards aside from just a roof over your head, I doubt you'll be happy here.
