I recently looked at Hickory Ridge because we are relocating from the East Coast. I thought the property looked very nice, on a beautiful pond with geese and ducks. The manager was very helpful and friendly. The place seemed very well kept up. We are, needless to say, very concerned about these negative reviews and want to understand the truth versus roomers. please reply. thanks.

Yes, please consider the comments. I know this is the internet and you have to siph through info, but having lived in Merrillville for over 10 years now there aren't a whole lot of quality choices, but definitley take into consideration Mallard or Prairie Point. Also, stay away from Chapelle Le Grande apts. AIMCO is selling the place so the management could careless. To directorcoop it's good to know that Mallard Bay is nice.

Yes, I've been here at Mallard Bay since September 2006. 9 months and I still love it. The building is only 10 years old, so everything is still modern. However, it is a bit on the expensive side. Good think I have a roommate to split the $906.00 monthly rent. If you do not need all the amenities or updated apartments, you can also check out Fountainvew Apartments in Crown Point. they are much much cheaper for the same square footage, but are 70's looking inside. They are considered a "retirement community" but do allow 20% of people to be 21-55, but no kids or section 8 allowed.

yes, i'm a kid but living in merriville at hickory is a wonderful experiance, i can fish, swim, play nad make friends and every morning i wake up and feed the ducks. i have no idea what those people are talking about, kameka, judy and darrah are very nice to my family, andthe matinence is wonderful. mara the custodion is very clean and helpful. so my opinion is move to hickory and stop wasting your time my mom and dad always have a place to park, and nothing ever happens to my building or apt.(that is a decent size) well that's what i have to say
