Don't Ever Move Here

When I moved here, I thought,"Wow, what a great place!" Then the patio door started to leak, the noise is unbearable...it'like I have noisey roommates! When I called to have things repaired, I am faced with unprofessionalism and attitude. I looked them up on the net and I learned that the company have lawsuites against them for violating the rights of the disabled!
I would like to know if background check are done on their workers and the maintance men.
If I were you and you are concidering living here, I would ask the Hobart Police Dept to see ANY police records pertaining to Huntington Cove Apartments. That is what I should have done, and that is what I regret not doing.

Sadly, I do believe this happened, and am horrified to hear about it happening to you. Though I'm not disabled myself, I too had a carport, and they allowed other people to park there even though it was reserved to my apartment and I was paying the monthly fee. I personally see no problem for why thisseems to be a big issue with management as to having both a handicap placard and a carport. I know there were several like this who had carports or garages as well as a placard, when I lived there, as one lived in the same building as I did and also had the same issue as you. This just goes to show why I moved out of there when I did...Huntington Cove has poor management as well as a definate case of discrimination. If you move, I hope you find a place where you have no issues of htis magnitude.

I understand the problem. I had knee surgery and wanted a reserved parking because all the carports are used. I was told they could not put up another reserved sign becuase there is another one up for the apartment next to me. I was told I could park in the handicap that is a block away! I told them I have to be home by 6pm in order to get a a decent parking place. The office girl told me to be home by 6:00pm! I go to college and sometimes I have to park far away when I have night classes and I don't feel safe at night walking that far! I should call maintenance when I come home at 10pm from school and make them walk me to my door. I even contacted the American with Disabilites Act and reported them. We got all that snow and as of midnight the walks have yet to be cleaned. That was fun in crutches and walking on one leg.

Thank you very much for writing your responses. I do believe that we should form a tenant union or file a class action suite against them. Since I have been living here break in have been on the raise. Tenants that have been living here 3-5 years have been and are moving out. Steve nor any other office personnel have sent notice or warned us to be extra care because of the crime wave. I am geting out myself.

There is no way to prevent crime there or anywhere else you live. A lot of times it's because people leave things in their car... many cars aren't even locked. You wouldn't be able to afford an apartment there if they provided enough security to try to watch 732 apartments at the same time. If they tried there would be even more complaints if something happened.... it's a catch 22 and has been the same in the apartment industry for the 25 years I've been involved... in 4 different states... just a few thoughts about it.

My girlfriend lived in these apartments and let me tell you. between summer of 06- till 07 I thought everything was fine. I stayed there often and personally I think the apartments are great and so are the *fix-it* people. But near the end of my girlfriends lease... her 03 intrepide (excuse the spelling) was stolen right out of the parking lot RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER ROOM! I got to her house and parked right next to her at 4 and when her boyfriend came at 6 it was gone. I know she didnt leave it unlocked because she is a paranoid... she locks everything. On top of that she ran out to her car and we used the clicker from her bedroom to lock it. Its bogas! Other than that I think the apartments are fine. Me and another person plan on moving here soon and yeah crime is everywhere but I just hope we arent discriminated against for being a young white couple, and everyone is telling us to not go there =[
