Only four buildings in this complex--that's a plus. Only one way in and one way out--that's a bigger plus in my opinion. That limits the number of people driving through who should not be driving through in the first place.

So far I have not heard of any break-ins. The windows were bashed-out of a car in the parking lot recently, but that was more of a domestic dispute. Nothing was taken. Security cameras were installed as a result. No garage space though. Garages would provide a little more peace of mind.

The apartments are huge and allow washers and dryers in the apartment for an additional $20 month. That's the way to go. There is only one washer and dryer in the laundry room for every eleven units--they seem to be tied-up when you need them most.

The sound of the security door slamming shut at all hours of the night (especially when the neighbors are late night partying) is annoying. You can hear every word someone is saying in the hallway. Likewise, Someone in the hallway can hear every word you are saying in your living room. It takes a lot of getting used to.

I like Maple Leaf. It's close to Gary, but not TOO close. Maxim's restuarant is across the street. Ultimately, the quality of life at Maple Leaf is going to come down to the quality of the residents. So far, so good.
