I chose this place because of the low move in special. You definately get what you pay for here. The actual apartment itself is not bad, but everything around sucks ass. There is rarely anywhere to park, even with rude asses using all the handicap spots. People ride your ass and pass you in the 10 mph street with speedbumps doing about 50 with kids around. The laundry facilities have not worked in the 8-9 months i've been here. Changing the handle lock on the door and adding another lock and alarm on the door was the smartest thing we did moving here. A white guy in the building next to mine got robbed at GUNPOINT outside yesterday. Enough said.

Oh I almost forgot, the court system has A DAY SET ASIDE FOR THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX. How bad does a place have to be when an entire day in court can be dedicated to the residents of this --------

I just recently moved into summerwood and my roommates and i are very happy. they just installed new security doors to all the buildings and the laundry facility has been completely redone. they have more washers and dryers as well as counters. the new security doors are glass which i'm not too fond of but they actually close unlike the old ones. I was a little worried about thier security when i first moved in but now i feel comfortable. Not to mention i see merrillville police officers driving around each morning afternoon and night. I know its cliche but they also have a drug free policy in the rent agreement with the statement that it is automatic eviction if broken. for a first apartment i so far am very happy. i'm sure they had their problems in the past... they seem ok now.
