We still love Runaway Bay after three years.

I am very much surprised by the reviews I've read here and it has prompted me to add my own.

We owned our own home for many years and moved back to an apartment when my husband decided to go back to college full time.

We have been treated with respect and received excellence from both the office staff and matienance personnel.

We have friendly quiet neighbors.

We have a large apartment at a very reasonable price.

I wonder at all the discussion regarding the geese and ducks.

The ponds and the wildlife are definitely our favorite part of being on the balcony.

We have a beautiful view of one of the waterfalls.

Often we see blue herons, rabbits, kingfishers, and all the spring baby animals of each.

If you have a long spell where it doesn't rain, yes the pooh is there, but how would you have one without the other'

I greatly recommend Runaway Bay.

Please see for yourself prior to passing on this warm community.

Yep, I'm on the second floor. I am somewhat confused by your intensity. Didn't you see the geese when touring the apartment? You must be from the city. This is what geese do wherever they are. Perhaps you could put up a little white wire fence as some residents have done? If suggestions are not what you're interested in, then please vent at someone else.

Actually, I will just go ahead and vent wherever I feel like it, and I feel like doing it here. People should not have to fence in their 5x5 ft. patio in order to enjoy the view. You pay for a lake view, so you should get a lake view without having to worry about some big, mean flying dog dumping all over your patio or trying to bite you. And yes, I'm from the city. You make it sound like you are some tough country boy who isn't fazed by the geese. I am very impressed. I must be a city boy because I don't like walking through piles of crap. Get a life. That explains it. You have a BALCONY which means you are on the 2nd floor. But think about the people on the 1st floor who can't enjoy their patio because there is always green, runny, wet goose crap running from one side of the concrete to the other. Not to mention that they are mean and loud. The other wildlife is great. Even the ducks are nice. But the #1 thing Runaway Bay could do to instantly improve the scenery is to hire some redneck to come in with a shotgun and blast geese all day.

I'm from the country. I know what geese do when they are aloud to run free. It's NOT a suprise.

The problem comes when the managment allows the animals to run the place. At first glance Run Away Bay has some of the best landscaping in the South Bend area. Upon closer inspection all of that wonderful landscaping, including the gazebo, and reflecting pool bridge, are completly covered in goose S*** to the point that you don't even want to walk on them.

I'm sure the place looks wonderful from your second floor balconies. If you don't mind the birds defecating all over your community, that's fine but would you do everyone else a favor and just stay in your apartments and keep your useless critiques quiet.
