We lived at colonial crest for three years, and it was the most traumatic experience we had.

Our apartment had next to no natural light, and you always had the feeling that something was watching you. There was a bug infestation every year, and they always sent the maintenance man over with the bug spray instead of getting an exterminator.

The apartments are poorly constructed, and there is very little storage space. We could hear the people above us all the time - having sex, playing basketball, walking. Then, we had the neighbors who left their dog outside on their balcony in the heat. He'd get sick and vomit or defacate through the balcony and onto our patio below. Nothing was done about this.

I turned my heat on one evening and thick, black-blue smoke came billowing out of the air return where the heater is located. My dog sat right under the vent (he's blind) and wouldn't budge even when offered a treat, and I was very nervous because of the smell that accompanied the smoke. I called emergency maintenance and the fire department. I was belitted and told the heaters were in "fire proof boxes," so I had nothing to worry about. Imagine my surprise when, not two months later, an entire building burned to the ground and happened because of a faulty heater. The woman was quoted in "The Star Press" as saying there was a thick, black-blue smoke that smelled, but she thought it was just dust and let it go. Thank God I trusted my instincts and turned off the heater...

Parking was wretched. We rarely found a place to park right outside our building. In fact, I had surgery on my knee and requested they send a note to the building asking them to leave the spot in the front row of parking on the end open so I could get in and out of the car easily on my crutches and not scratch anyone's cars or hurt myself. They said they couldn't do that for me, so, I had to deal with it. The apartment I moved to after my nightmare here did that for me when I injured myself.

Maintenance issues took forever to resolve and weren't ever done properly. Our kitchen sink always backed up because the lines come to a "T" right outside our kitchen, which meant we got everyone's food in our kitchen sink. Laundry was rarely available, and the office staff was rude. We were so ready to get out of our apartment, we payed for the rest of our lease and moved to a new community. "You get what you pay for" really rings true here. The only positive aspect we had was feeding the ducks at the lake. If you want to keep your sanity and be respected, find somewhere else to live...I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!
