Better than the projects, but not by much.

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

I moved into these apartments in late 2007, and I have regretted the move ever since. The apartments themselves are in pitiful shape structrally. The front entry door (and all the interior doors)is not hung correctly, so large gaps allow cold/hot air in not to mention noise and bugs. Windows have no screens and offer little insulation from heat/cold and moisture and insects enter through the gaps. For the first six months I had recurring problems with not having hot water (even though I have two unused hot water heaters in my utility closet). Leaks from water pipes in the ceiling in the kitchen. I had recurring water leak from the ceiling in the bathroom. The kitchen cabinets look like they were built with plywood and installed by an amature carpenter. The apartment maintenance crew don't seem to know how or are unwilling to perform simple repairs. The parking lot looks as though it hasn't been paved in years and has no markings of any kind. As far as the neighbors, while some are very kind and keep to themselves, my upstairs neighbor loves to stomp his feet when he walks and daily practices a loud electronic keyboard. He also owns three trucks which takes up valuable parking spaces. This is noted because the management has refused to do anything about this and have been told to solve the problem myself. Some tenants or their guests drive "boomcars" and have no problem playing them. Police visit this complex frequently.
Update 9/2008: Tenants now pay all utilities except garbage pickup. Plumbers hired by property managers to hook up water/water meters to each apartment seem to have as much skill as the apartment maintenance people. A one day job has turned into three, and each day they flood my kitchen with water, dirty my carpet, leave all my lights on, and leave my door wide open to invite more flies into my apartment.
Update 12/2008: The management seem incapable of finding good tenants for these apartments. New next door neighbors have decided to congregate outside their apartment's back door, near my bedroom and have loud conversations and smoke grass until 4:30 in the morning. (Keep in mind this is MONDAY morning and in the winter to boot!). Does management check these people out at all'
