Has been Good

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008

I've lived at Park Place for four years.
My overall impression is quite favorable, with a few minor caveats.
1. The phone and cable outlets for my apartment are in awkward places, and they won't let me add more.

2. I have issues with my light fixtures shorting out; for that matter...

3. I wish my apartment had a higher-amp electrical panel. Vacuum Microwave = tripped breaker.

4. The fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom are nothing special at all. My bathtub had a decent-size gouge in the enamel when I moved in. Water pressure is awesome, though (way better than other apartments I've lived in), and I've never had a problem with not having hot water. My fridge and in particular the freezer are unfortunately smaller than I'd like. I bought a stand-alone freezer for my apartment.

5. They are very tolerant of my cats. I pay an extra fee for my cats, but the staff was helpful and supportive of my pet ownership, something that ultimately led me to choose Park Place.

6. My apartment is very well insulated and quiet. Every once in a while, I step out my door and I'm amazed at what I can hear in the hallway... but I don't hear it in my apartment, so that's fine.

7. No outdoor grills. This is a Portage town ordinance, but it is very disappointing. There are grills on the grounds, but they are not particularly close or convenient.

8. Local high-speed internet choices are not very good (very high cost, low quality). Not a complaint about the apartment, but it might be an issue for someone.

9. Likewise, cable TV service in my apartment is really awful. I gave up on it. They need some signal amplifiers or something.

10. My apartment is VERY warm in the summer time. Many two bedroom apartments at Park Place can have a window AC unit to supplement the living room AC. Mine cannot, and the living room AC is just not sufficient to keep the apartment cool. Or, like, below 90 degrees. This is my biggest single issue with the apartment.

11. My kitchen has plenty of storage. Not much counter space though.

12. The master bedroom is enormous, approximately the same size as the living room.
13. Plenty of closet space.

14. The laundry in the basement of my building is not particularly well maintained or functional. On top of that, one of my neighbors likes to use the clothes driers as extra clothing storage; given the choice, I take my laundry elsewhere.
