Don't make this the worst year of your life.

The apartment is the worst you will ever find. Let me review each question. #1 Parking is not very good. I give this answer a 2 only because all the apartments aren't filled (and for good reason). Full occupancy would make parking a nightmare. #2 Noise is a problem because of thin walls and very thin flooring. You are also on the border of streets making traffic bothersome. #3 Grounds are always a problem. This may not be a selling point to you but after looking at the grungy walls of the apartment it would be nice to view nature of the grounds. The grounds aren't kept up the best. There is a cheap service that cares for the lawn. There are dead trees on the property that make a eerie atmosphere (which management won't cut down). Shrubbs never get trimmed. There's always trash and broken pavement abound. No improvements are ever performed, such as flower planting or spraying for weeds. Bugs are problem. You will often see roaches, spiders, ants. #4 I considered rating this a 2 until I witness a crime on the property. Talking to other residents this is a common occurance. Best advice is to lock your doors and windows and make it a point to own insurance. Often management will be notified of problems but will fall to neglect. Simple things such as replacing exterior safety lights aren't performed to save on cost. Cost of What' They rather save a few dollars here and there than your safety. #5 The apartments' are severly outdated by many years. Everything from the fixtures to the appliances are outdated. Windows are old, floors and walls are thin. The toilets are very cheap usually requiring 3 flushes for one use (Hope you don't have diarreha). Plumbing is shotty. Hot water goes out in the winter. All water is connected to one line, there when they have to turn off the water, everyone loses their water. This often happens unannounced and they won't reimburse you even though free water is mentioned in the lease. #6 If something breaks, good luck getting anything fixed. Maintenance people here have a huge turnover rate. Often times, no service will be on-hand or on-call, making service nonexistant. Once serviced is rendered, anything fixed is very shotty, performed cheaply to save on expenses. Generally it's a short-term fix to a long-term problem. #7 Office staff, is a never-ending battle. You can tell them your apartment problems but they won't act on them, yet they will turn around and say feel free to tell the office if you have any problems. Why' I can tell me dog the same thing and at least he will be loyal! Many times I've told the apartment office problems but they will give you a bogus answer to hope that you'll feel content and will walk away. Problems to the apartments happen often yet the office staff will not recompensate you even if you don't have free heat, free water, etc. that's mentioned in your lease. #8 Overall the apartments' are very poor and have fallen to neglect. Office staff and upper management won't the necessary money for upkeep and a positive attitude of many of their residents. Even told of problems and threatened will lawsuits they will wait until anything is forced upon them to act. I would suggest look at other places in town and likely you'll find a better living situation. My lease ended here in early in 2004 and I was happy to leave although at anytime I may have hired a lawyer and left due to neglect of the apartment. Hopefully this information I supplied will help you in picking a good apartment.
