This place is a DUMP. I applied for the position and was called. I went to look at the property. I found shutters broken and falling off the building. Downspouts were broken, bent or missing. The place looked deserted. Ghost town. Plenty of parking because there weren't any people there. They were either at work or there was alot of empty apts. I did not feel safe just driving through the property.
I entered the office at which point I walked up to the window. I greeted the men behind the window. One stood up and I told him I was interested in some apts. He would not show them to me until I filled out a form he slammed down in front of me. I (politely) told him I was not interested in anything but looking at the inside of a few apts. He rudely informed me that he could not help me.
The person who called me about taking this job asked me to go have a look at it and let them know what I thought. I never bothered. They had lost their manager and maintenance man. The person who "greeted" me was the new property manager and he was an idiot that I would not work for. Supposedly I would be the full time leasing agent and they would look for a part time one and a new maintenance person. In other words they had no one and I would be it.
I left very angry and shocked at how they had any tenants with the property looking that run down and the office staff that rude.
And by the way...
The upper management told me that NO ONE and they emphasized "NO ONE" gets turned down. I asked about credit and criminal checks and was told they took care of everything and that the deposit may be adjusted but that NO ONE was EVER turned away. I asked about illegal immigrants and was told again NO ONE was told no.
It's no wonder their property looked like crap. If they allow ANYONE to live there, then anyone could stop paying their rent at anytime and if they are not legal they have no way of ever getting their rent/money. With little or no income coming in from renters there is little or no money available for upkeep.
I would rather work at a fast food place than this dump. If I wouldn't work there, there is NO way I would live there. My exact words to my husband was "I cannot sell something I would not live in myself".
By the way, living there was suppose to be a perk. LOL.

Sounds like a fired leasing agent.... 100% occupied place with 3 mil in rennovations the last 3 years... gee I wonder who wrote this??

nah, I'm not a fired leasing agent. I have actually NEVER been fired from a job. I am an experienced and qualified agent as I was a resident property manager at a complex in Michigan for several years. Evidently I was more qualified than even the owners because I actually cared about MY tenants! I can believe they were 100% occupied letting anyone and everyone in regardless of criminal or credit history. I cannot for a second believe they had spent 3 million for renovations over the 3 years. It would've looked a WHOLE lot better than it did, starting with repairing or replacing the broken shutters and downspouts. I am VERY glad to hear that the complex has sold and it sounds like they actually care about the property and paying tenants. The tenants must be in better hands, it surely could not have been much worse.
