Disappointing, but not sufficiently so to endure the frustration of moving

That about sums up my experience in my three years at Castle Point. The parking is highly problematic, with only one assigned space per tenant. Snow removal practices leave much to be desired: the plows have a tendency to fill parking spots with snow,. rather than clearing it away. The parking lots are also built in such a way as to be flood-prone, with water backing up to a foot or more.

The laundry facilities are nearly always broken, and attention to called-in repairs is provided at a langorous pace at best. Maintenance takes no interest in significant structural problems (such as massive wet-rot in the bathroom). Fixtures are poor quality, appliances prone to breakage (including such things as the water heater). The exterior walls are extremely poorly insulated.

There is nominally a security guard, paid to ensure that unauthorized access to the grounds does not occur. This, though, has not solved a spate of arsons. In my time at the complex, there have been no fewer than eleven fires. Fortunately the complex is situated less than half a mile from the fire station.

In short' Not recommended. Had I known more of the complex in advance, I would not have chose to make it my temporary South Bend home.

Agreed. I don't think people realize this place has been plagued with arsons. I don't know if they ever caught the people, but it was terrifying. You constantly had to deal with evacuations of your building, couldn't get in, random personelle entering and leaving (violating your privacy), simply because some idiot would apparently start fires in the laundry rooms or wherever. Some of the most pyschotic stuff I've see in South Bend. I hope whoever was behind that is behind bars, but I will wouldn't ever live at Castle Point again.
