I lived at Park Jefferson for close to a year and it was a TERRIBLE experience! Don't let the low price fool you. When you move out, they nickel and dime you for every spot you did not clean to make it look like it were new. For example, I used the kitchen appliances often and over time wear and tear occurred, which they charged me for (of course, they called it something other than "wear and tear"). Also, look for a place that offers gas heating and water. These old apartments use electric heaters and water heaters which really can drive up your monthly utility bills - most other complexes in the area have gas (furnace and water heater) included in the rent, so living at Park Jefferson turns out to be an extra 50-100 dollars a month for utilities.

The appliances are old and noisy such as the dishwasher and water heater. I only had enough hot water for 15 minutes when I took a shower. Also, the management does not do a good job in cleaning the walkways and common areas within buildings. For example, there was always beer bottles and broken glass in the area. It seems that many of the residents like to play music very loud late at night. The common areas also smell like urine. There are not enough washers and dryers where you end up having to do laundry at odd times so you do not have to wait for a machine, if the machines are even working. My clothes came out of the dryer damp on many occasions.

The managements is terrible and not very friendly. They are not willing to hear you out on charges to explain why you should not be responsible. I imagine this is a way they turn a profit. Park Jefferson, to make up for their "low" rent, forces you to pay a full month's rent even if you give them proper notice that you will be leaving that first week of that month.

This place is not a good place to live based on quality or price. The complex and appliances are very old and you won't be saving much money taking into consideration above average utility costs and the money you lose from your deposit when they charge you for everything that is not in new condition.

My fiance and I used to deliver the South Bend Tribune to Park Jefferson residents. I can verify and sympathize with much of this reviewer's complaints. The common areas smelled horrible except for the newly added buildings. We often saw trash inside and outside the buildings. People wandered the grounds, talked loudly, and played music at all hours. Outside lights remained broken/out of order for days or weeks at a time. Several of our subscribers had their papers stolen repeatedly. We recommend looking elsewhere as well.
