Best appartment so far

The Good:
I moved in this past August 2009. I inspected the apartment before I moved in, and it was fabulous. I have new carpet, new paint and new appliances; all very nice. Most of my neighbors are graduate students at ND like me. The ones below me are older (50's, professionals), and very nice people. I got a garage thrown into my deal for free, which makes parking a breeze and a lot of extra storage room. Maintenance is very fast and professional; they are replacing my windows for free because the double pain of glass is coming apart. It's a very nice view to the East Race and bike path. The bike path is about 3/4 - 1 miles from ND, which I bike too on a regular basis (about 20 minutes if you go slow), or a 5-10 minute drive. Cambodian Thai is also 3 blocks away which is one of my favorite restaurants in SB and Corby's is at the end of the block which is very convenient if you like to go out on weekends. Almost forgot; they waived my security deposit and application/other fees completely! Very nice. I moved in ten days before August, and the only thing I had to pay was rent by August 6th. The staff is very nice to talk to whenever you have a question. Also, I pay under $100 a month for electric/ gas combined and I have my air conditioning set at 65F.

The Bad:
You can sometimes hear your neighbors. It's not terribly bad, I have definitely been in much worse apartments. However, if your neighbors are stomping around/ yelling, you can tell. It's generally not loud enough to hear unless your apartment is completely quiet; as in you wont hear it over your TV. This also is not generally an issue for me because I work a lot at my office at ND. I have a roommate, and she often works late and has trouble finding a parking spot. So either get a garage or an apartment on the river side rather than the east race side. The other plus to a parking spot is your friends can park in that spot without being towed; they tow the general parking spots (a plus).

Overall:
This is my favorite apartment I have lived in to date. As I understand it they recently renovated the entire apartment complex, and many of the negative reviews are from before this. They have open houses nearly every weekend (which I attend for the free food) and, at least recently, have had some good deals (which I took advantage of). I highly recommend this apartment complex.
