good place to stay...if you are totally deaf, have the patience of a saint or have a dog.

It is 10 at night, and I am utterly exhausted from a long day at work. I am just about ready for bed, when I hear a loud scream. Some shouting, then some wailing, then moaning, and then the familiar banging of the closet doors until they fall apart (only to be superglued into place the next day just in time for a second round of moaning, shouting and banging). Dont bother complaining about your noisy neighbors, because there really is nothing that the management can do about it...because...um well...the neighbors are mentally challenged (no, I am not using this as a derogatory term, they truly are mentally handicapped) and complaining is utterly useless because the management will do absolutely nothing about this. Why is a noisy person who repeatedly causes disturbance and has been complained about by all his other neighbors still continue to live in this community' Because the management's fears over getting sued for discrimination toward mentally challenged people far outweighs their concern for the non-mentally challenged members of their community losing sleep due to neighbors who cant keep the noise level down. The irony of discrimination. So, tip one. Get clued in to who your neighbors are before you move in. No, really. You never know which hooligan you'll be sharing the thin walls with.

It is 6am in the morning. A loud bang resonates through the quietness of the early morning. The ground beneath you trembles. No, it's not an earthquake. Just the warehouse next door, whose workers start their shift long before dawn. You shove a pillow over your head to drown out the noise. The warehouse reciprocates by alleviating their clanging of metal parts until the noise invades through my barricade of pillows. Dont bother complaining to the management. Because there is nothing they can do. It takes too much diplomacy to maintain good relations with the warehouse next door. So, tip two. Dont get an apartment next to the warehouse. Really. Not anywhere close. Get the unit furthest away from the clanging and banging.

It is 7am. And my neighbor has resumed his moaning. Atleast the warehouse is quiet over the weekends. My neighbor will continue to moan seven days a week.

Why do I continue to put up with this' No, I dont have the patience of a saint. I have a dog.
