Random maintenance men every week....*scary*

I lived here for a year in 2005. Overall, it is a decent complex. Depending on your neighbors *just like in every apartment complex* it can either be extremely loud or very quite. Thankfully I was lucky on my neighbors, plus it helped being in an upstairs apartment. Traffic is minimal, nobody has any reason to be here unless they live here, no real "through traffic".

Rent is reasonable, was higher at many places I looked at. I also don't believe they take Section 8 or anything of that nature, so many of the people that live there are respectable. *which is true for Valparaiso as a whole*.

That being said, I had one MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR complaint, maintenance! Picture this, a random man walks into your apartment at least once every week. Your wife, child, etc home alone' No problem. In the shower, no problem. Sleeping, no problem. This is an ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. It bothered me so much I called the management company, and even the Valparaiso Police Department to file a formal complaint. I've lived in four apartment complexes in my life, including the one I'm living in now, and I have only seen a maintenance man when I asked for one, or once every 6 months or so to change furnace filters, etc. There is no reason why one should be coming in every week like they did at Golfview Apartments. I would ask what they were doing, they'd say something along the lines of "Writing the serial numbers down for your oven". Well that's odd, that is what you said the last four times too! On one random day my girlfriend was home alone, and a maintenance man came over for no reason again. *they knock once, wait two seconds, then come in*. After the maintenance man was done, he simply stood by the door and stared at her. After a few seconds she said "You can leave now", and the man said "Sorry" and walked out. Creepy! Disgusting! Massive invasion of safety and privacy! Nevertheless, I was relieved to see this complaint made by almost everyone who reviewed this complex. If you are a single woman, DO NOT LIVE HERE. You will NOT feel safe.

But anyways, despite the above complaint, the place was a nice place to live. I'd suggest getting an internal home security camera however, at the very least, so the maintenance men know that you know they are there, and what they are doing.
