Not bad except for plumbing

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
My husband (fiance at the time) lived in a studio apartment for a year during 2002-2003. I subleased another studio apartment during Summer 2004. Our main complaints about the apartments were the plumbing: the water periodically was brown and/or had black mystery flakes floating in it. Definitely keep bottled around at all times! One time my fiance bought me roses, and we gave them some tap water (which happened to be running brown that day), and the roses went from fresh and healthy to dry, brown, and crunchy in only 6 hours! Also, both of us had 5 minutes TOP of hot water for showers.
However, if you can get past the plumbing problems, the rest wasn't bad. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and they even knew my fiance by first name after a few months. We didn't have any major maintenance problems (except for dirty water, of course). The studio apartments did have minimal amenities, but that's what we expected for the price. While we couldn't always park right at our door, we were always able to find a spot somewhere in the lot. There was a separate parking lot for visitors nearby -- the residents' lot was gated. (Though sometimes the visitor's lot filled up with cars visiting the next-door frat house.) Sometimes we heard our neighbors, but not often. The grounds were not that pretty but they were also not trashy, dirty, or unsafe. The location is convenient to the Purdue campus. This could be a nice, affordable complex if they could fix the water problems! (Unless they did since we left!)
