Difficult to Deal With

The people who work at this complex are extremely difficult to deal with. We signed a pre-lease agreement the October before we moved in (in August) and nothing from this agreement was upheld. We ended up having to find a place to live for two weeks because they couldn't get us an apartment before our previous lease ended. We also didn't get the floor plan we requested, despite the fact that we were assured : "You're at the top of the list".
We then moved in to a newly renovated apartment (which we had to pay $50 extra per month for and forfeit our deal for signing a lease early - even though the renovations were because the last guy had set the kitchen on fire)that had all the appearances of being thrown together at the last possible minute - pieces of floorboard missing, closet doors missing, etc. Toward the end of move-in day, we found out that we had no hot water - when I called the office, they told me I needed to run it for at least an hour. Well, running the water was completely useless except to keep me occupied until maintenance went home for the day. It turned out that they hadn't hooked the hot water heater up, and I had to wait until the next day until someone could come fix it. Other problems did not appear to be a high priority, and they didn't fix anything else until we threw another fit. They then politely requested that, if we weren't going to be there, that we either lock our dog up in our den or take her to stay somewhere else. So, we drove an hour back to Indy to leave her with my parents, and they DIDN'T DO ANYTHING on the apartment for DAYS. When maintenance finally did come, they told us that she didn't bother them at all and would have been fine.
Since then, we have had MULTIPLE problems with the business portion of the office. They mishandle their records and have accused us multiple times of not paying rent, even though this did not turn out to be true. They keep records in multiple different places on their computers, which aren't properly linked together. As a leader in a Purdue student organization, I have seen untrained college students do a better job taking care of money. In addition, they apparently enjoy telling you about these little problems with your rent at the end of the day, right before they are leaving. This way you get to be frustrated about it for the rest of the day (or the entire weekend, if it's a Friday) without having anyone to get it figured out with. The last straw was this month, when they claimed my roommate had not paid his share of the rent, even though it had posted to his bank account two days previous.
In addition, we have had to live this entire year with yellowish colored water from the crappy pipes - our skin is always dried out and we spend a small fortune on water purification and bottled water. Even though our apartment has been renovated, nothing has been done to the pipes or the common areas of the building. The carpet in the hallway is absolutely disgusting. DO NOT LIVE HERE - there are plenty of other places that will treat you much better! lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji

that water is gross-looking! we have the same problem, but only in the tub (when i take a bath i use lots of soap so it'll bubble up and i don't have to see the water). the bathroom sink isn't like that. have you ever asked the office about it? i'm going to ask.

Wow, I can't believe all of that. I stay at Williamsburg apts. and have had nothing but good experiences. The staff are all very nice, the maintenance team is great, and I love my apartment. The water is pretty nasty, but only when the city is flushing the water lines. I love Williamsburg and will continue to stay here.
