You Take the Good with the Bad.

We have lived here for one and a half years now, and we are basically comfortable. There are things that could be done better like the maintenance crew. These maintenance people are lazy and it takes them forever sometimes to respond to maintenance concerns. We had weatherstripping at the bottom of the front door that was partially off and letting a lot of cold air in and the maintenance worker put duct tape on it and left. That was all. We had to call to get real weatherstripping put on and he showed us how unhappy he was to have to do it. We have also called for an ice safety issue over four months ago and they still have not shown up, saying that it was a different kind of problem that they would have to handle differently, but never did. The mowers are also not very good at all, sometimes only finishing part of the complex at a time when they mow and sometimes not blowing excess cut grass off of the sidewalks. In their defense, their time is splitbetween ten complexes that they work, but that is an issue that the corporate office should handle better so that we can have a more full time maintenance crew, or at least one worker that can respond daily to the tenant's concerns.

However, most of the neighbors are very nice and considerate. Most of the noise comes from traffic because there is only one way in and out (which helps the safety issue a lot!) The units are small so utilities are not usually very high and the cable package is a good deal and its included in the rent. That makes it very convenient, with one less separate bill. The new manager is much improved over the last one. She actually seems to care whether your concern is addressed and she knows her limits as a manager and what she can make happen and what the corporate office actually has control over. Like most complexes, it is the corporate office who has most of the power regarding maintenance, groundskeeping, safety, potholes, and such.

All in all, this apartment has been serving our needs more than it has been a problem. It is not the Ritz, but it doesn't purport to be. It is also not the Holliday House. You just have to take the good with the bad and hopefully it works out more in your favor.
