I've been at Rainbow about 6 months now and overall I'm pleased with most things. You rarely hear your neighbors and the view, if you face downtown KC, MO is great at night. The cost for electricity for lights/cooling ran about $35.00 in the summer and has dropped to about $20.00 when I don't need to use the air. And it's nice to have access to the gym (small, but functional) and the pool (ditto).

If you can afford the garage parking (I think I pay $30.00 extra a month), then I'd suggest taking it. Regarding parking, my only serious complaint about Rainbow is that management does not enforce the "guests only" parking in front of the building. So, if you have friends come over at night and they drive, warn them that there might not be a place to park.

There's a wide range of people who live at Rainbow. I'd say that most people are probably 20s-30s, but there are also some older people living there too. Many of the younger people are medical students at KU. There's also a lot of people from different ethnic backgrounds and people with different interests. It's funny sometimes to ride the elevator down with a leather/biker guy, a married couple of ---- decent, an Asian man or woman, and blond med student who looks like she's 15. You get all kinds, so if you're a bigot, Rainbow's not for you. Overall, the place seems friendly to people of all types, either straight/---/gay-friendly, young or old, white or a person of color.

People who complain about the cost of rent, parking, or the laundry facilities at Rainbow obviously don't understand market rates or are students who haven't really joined the workforce yet and haven't had to pay those costs for any significant amount of time. And I've never felt unsafe in the parking garage -- it's a parking garage, what do you expect'

I'd suggest checking the place out.
